Common thing up in cold climates. A warm battery provides considerably more power than a cold one. It's basically an electric blanket for your car battery.

No, they're not 12v, they are run on a/c line current just like a block heater or a tank heater. Pretty simple stuff, I imagine quite easy to modify if neccessary.

I personally like the compact nature of waterbed heaters and seed mats. Battery warmers are kind of puffy, like a heating pad.

Sorry, being a mechanic, I can't resist this stuff.

Yeah, what MNmyc said. I got mine at Canadian Tire, its made by motomaster. Mine is 125 volts. They are pretty puffy and long, only useful if you have a lot of space handy.
