This shit is back.Belive furit flies are bringing it into tub in tub. After last time I washed my tub with bleach let it set 1 hr. then washed out with water let dry then washed out with 91%alcohol. Let it set overnight then reload. Oh ya removed all trash from house then sprayed then bomb then bomb some more. Also hung sticky paper from the ceiling. Some how they found there way back to my tub. Does anyone know what this is???? Hopefuly someone can give me some ideals. I hate contams. The only thing I can think of is to use duct tape to seal the tub.
Mod just notice I'm in cult and not contams--Sorry

That is not good looking... I have no idea... Perhaps those in the contam forum would know...
I can tell you that you should definetly get rid of the source (flies). I had a long battle with them. They got my whole chamber and infected my house plants as well. It took a complete shutdown of the fruiting chamber, almost killing of my plants with soap water/excessive dry periods, and full cleaning of the entire kitchen. I also put up my own homegrown fly traps as I saw one land on a bug strip and fly away (no joke). I used a pint jar filled with an half inch of apple cider and a dash of soap (or jetdry). Cover the jar with clear film and poke tiny holes. They will become attracted to the smell, enter the jar and become trapped. Many of them will try to land on the cider and sink because of the loss of surface tension...
I watched many die this way and my problem is gone. You have to kill the flies and eliminate their breeding grounds.

i noticed your jars are upside down. Do you have drainage in your container from your jars being upside down? I would think the shit draining from your jars into your container is causing that. Set them on a towel or something to absorb whatever it is comming from your jars. Worth a try, but i dont know anything =p

Eliminating their breeding grounds is what I think i've done.
kitteh the jars are turned upside down to let co2 out. The jars were ready to be birthed. Turning the jars hopefuly stops stalling.
I don't think anything leaked out but who knows
Anyone know what this is?????????

dont know, but go ahead and plug those holes in your handles of the rubbermaid, just tape over them. This may be their entry spot. -dr0

Hard to tell from the pic. Is it slimy or fuzzy?
If it's slimy, then it's most likely bacterial and you should be able to clean that sh*t out and keep it out by plugging the holes in your tubs.
If it's fuzzy, it's more likely fungal. That can be more problematic, as it could be "rooted" into the plastic of the actual tub. If it's fungal, does it turn pink when bruised?
Either way, it might be showing the age of your tub. All manufactured synthetics are impregnated with biocides to prevent them from becoming plastic salads for fungus and bacteria. Most break down after a couple years; faster in harsh conditions like sunlight or constant exposure to water. Think of how long it takes for a new shower curtain to get mildewed, and where it starts.
If it is in fact fungal, it will be far more difficult to kill without autoclaving.

WickedPissah Welcome to the Shroomy
When I first got this contam it was like the jar in the top pic. It's fuzzy when bumped an orange fog comes off of it. Does not show in jar untill opened.First time it grew on tub. Always thought bleach would kill everything.Looks like the cheap way out is a new tub.All ready lost 36 jars don't want to do that any more.I hope PCing will cure my plistic lids?
Anyother thoughts?

I think you've puffed it to many times.now you have spores everywhere. i have seen this growth at work during last couple weeks.curios as i am i steped on some to see what would happen, and organish color fog or puff of dust emerged off.presumly spores. you could have a serious problem now. i'll get pictures for you

I agree. Quit puffin' on your contamination... Don't underestimate the possibility that your house is also the vector of contamination. Your carpet alone holds more spores than anyone can possibly estimate. Each time you sit on your couch or favorite chair your picking up and leaving spores. They are all through your house. Having this contamination multiple times just makes it works. You need to do a thorough cleaning of your lab, and work on your sterile techniques... I want to see a good picture of this stuff, and I would like to know what it is for the mental log.

Spores are a b*tch to kill. Period.
If the growth starts on the bin, then it's time for a new bin. It's most likely a common household contaminant that's just really excited to find a warm, wet, dark piece of plastic to munch on.
