What people keep saying it? There's all kinds of rumors and urban myths out there. I recently talked to a guy who said that mushrooms cause you to trip by poisoning your brain.

It was mentioned in this thread Link (at the beginning), I've heard it from someone on Fox news and if you do a search for it, many things about it pop up. I actually don't know if it's true or not, hence the reason for this thread.

It looks like it's not something we've ever had.
Do you get Gloabal where you are? The NewPL maybe?

That's pretty arrogant to think that just because your country has a TV channel...the whole world should have it. We have our own channels, too, you know? Why don't you get our channels? It's the same deal...

You haven't explained to me what PL stands for. As for the others, who knows? Are they comparable to the large media outlets like: CNN, BBC, ABC, CBC, CBS AND FOX? We have many small media companies that i'm sure are basically local.

Same as here, eh. CANWEST Broadcasting, The Global Network, those are "big" Canadian media conglomerates. The NewPL is one of the channels they own, do you get that channel? Why not?
It's the same reason.
We get some of your networks. I have ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CNN, and many more American networks...how many Canadian networks do you get?
The arrogance here is sickening...

Many feel that way about the BBC, what would you think if they weren't allowed or due to "lack of interest" was shown here...or the CBC?

I do, I get in channel 9 (CBC) for hockey night in Canada, that's ofcouse not going to happen again since you commies ousted Don Cherry.

probably because they don't have enough power to broadcast into the Detroit Metro Area.

with the exception of the CBC, name one that I would have a chance of seeing? My god you canooks get all bent out of shape when someone questions your "freedom". You'd have a heart attack if you were American. WOW, relax.

Atleast we in the United States allow couterveiw points. I guess you're not so free afterall. hmmpphh.
Huh? We get an occasional selected piece of foreign news filtered through standard broadcast news and sometimes something on public TV (not live), but my cable TV (100+ channels) does not show anything directly from the BBC or Al Jazeera or from Australia or Canada... (May be different for satellite, dunno...)
No, it is not directly and legally censored, but is not commonly available. The foreign clips that are shown that I see are ALWAYS talked over BEFORE and AFTER by biased reporters and never let to speak for themselves.

I'm not mad, eh. Don't flatter yourself
I'm trying to explain why we don't get FOX News yet. How old is this station? You can't expect us to pick everything you start broadcasting up right away...there are differences in our broadcasting regulations and such which have to be settled first.

I believe satelite (which I don't have) you can get anything, or close to it.
I would love to be able to get BBC or Al Jazeera on my cable TV, not that i'd agree with 99% on there but the best way to counter the other side is to let them do the talking, usually people hang themselves (in the poitical realm) with their own words. The same goes for the BBC. I'd welcome them all into my home.
my original question was basically is it true or not, if it is it's sad if it's not then never mind.

Fox News does not show in Canada because there is very little interest in it. It is completely 'legal'.
So much for your fabricated accusation.

In their talk shows, such as O'Reilly and Hannity and Colmes, they make sure to talk/yell over guests with a counter view all too frequently as to make them unwatchable (to me). This is unnecessary if the intent is to ACTUALLY exchange information and viewpoints. Hardly seems "Fair and Balanced". And the reporting is rarely presented without being smothered by biased comments.

So you dislike the presentation. OK. I note with interest you made no mention of factual accuracy.
Anyone else?

OK. I note with interest you made no mention of factual accuracy. If Fox News said 18 Iraqi civilians had been killed in a bombing attack and another source says there were 38, a viewer has no way of knowing which is factual. The constant linking of the War on Terror and 9/11 and the War on Iraq is certainly misinformational as is the constant praise of Bush and the demonization of Kerry. A REAL NEWS network would actually present the data and let the viewer decide his/her own opinion. The basic motto of "Fair and Balanced" gives misnomers a bad name.
