Mushroom foray

On Saturday I joined a local mycological society in a mushroom foray. We were around 30 people and were hunting for about 2 hours in a region in Slovenia near the Austrian border. All in all we found and determined around 80 different species of mushrooms.

Absolutely gorgeous! Here in Holland the summer's been pretty wet up to now, so here mushrooms are popping up all over the place as well

It's a new, not yet identified species. They seem to grow solitary, have a yellow cap and orange stipe. Strong bluing reaction, even without handling.

Anno - Very nice. Did you have a professional as the official identifier (if so, who)? You found a new (unknown) species? I understand that that's a relatively rare thing in Europe. It looks like a great time! I see several species of Amanita, Russulas, and boletes. Were there any other genera that seemed to be fruiting well?
FreshCaps - 80 species is OK. It's more than most people will get by themselves in a day of picking. Organised forays generally involve many people looking in a variety of habitats. During an average year here in Colorado for the annual CMS Mushroom Fair we get about 200 species. This year we're doing it on August 22 - it's open to the public.
Happy mushrooming!

> Did you have a professional as the official identifier (if so, who)? Yes, it is the gentlemen on the first photo left, his name is Anton Poler .
>You found a new (unknown) species? Heh, no, if you look carefully, you will see there is a small plastic toy among the mushrooms someone found in the woods.
>It looks like a great time! Oh, it was indeed. It is always fun to learn about new mushrooms and how to identify them.
> I see several species of Amanita, Russulas, and boletes. Were there any other >genera that seemed to be fruiting well?
There were also different kinds of Cantherellus, Cortinarius, Lactarius, Pluteus, Phallus impudicus (bah), Ramaria and even several mushrooms species that normally start in autumn (like Xerocomus badius), must be the very rainy and unstable, cold weather at the moment.
