Going to assume these are from ms.
I would spawn them to some more wood chips right about now in a planter or small bed. I like to add plants for shadow, wind shielding and humidity as well. Don't go too crazy with the addition of extra wood chips.
If you get desirable fruits this fall, don't forget to clone them and then you can go big with the cloned culture next year.

Mr Piggy said: I do see people often attributing damage to animals that did not do it. A common one I see here in the PNW is people blame rodents or squirrels for damaging their patches, but 99% of the time it is actually thrushes like the common robin scratching mulch or chips looking for invertebrates to eat. People assume a whole hell of a lot instead of just sitting and observing.
Says the person assuming squirrels aren't an issue just because they aren't for you... Thrushes and robins don't dig 2-3" deep holes, or bury hickory nuts when there's not a hickory tree within 100 yards of the bed. That's allenii mycelium on the hickory nut btw... I have 8 squirrel holes in my allenii bed right now that they've dug in the past 2 weeks. I've caught them doing it multiple times... Not only do they do it, they teach their offspring (and offspring's offspring) to do it to. I've had to fill squirrel holes back in every single month the bed isn't frozen solid for the past 9 years... I even found them in my wicking bamboo pots that I just made this year, the next morning after I set them outside of the greenhouse.

Thanks everyone! I feel a little better about the huge colony hanging out in my patch. Squirrel get into mine as well but the worst thing they do is mix my mulch up. I'm hoping the mycelium gets stuck to their paws/fur and gets spread to other mulch or decaying wood in my area. I do have snails and slugs and when I find them, I relocate them to the neighbors yard via air mail. Sometimes I leave them in the driveway and watch the bird get my revenge for me. I've also had a rabbit burrow under my cover boards that I use to create shade for my mushy friends. I just removed the board for a few days and the bunny left.

Has anyone ever bought a cheap wood chipper?
Someone on craigslist is selling this exact one, never used, for $250
https://www.amazon.com/SuperHandy-Chipper-Shredder-Electric-Mini-Wood/dp/B07WK561X6/ref=asc_df_B07WK561X6/
How much mulch can I get before the blades are beat?

How do I make a bed? 1 inch deep hole? Do additional woodchips need to be hydrated or otherwise prepped? Just add woodchips? Nothing else?

Right. I assumed a little fore knowledge here
There have been lots of growlogs on here with description and pics of how to make wl beds. One of them is in my signature.
There's many ways how to do it but in short: -use well hydrated hardwood chips alder, oak, fruit trees, things like that. -you can make layers chips-spawn-chips, etc or simply mix spawn and chips. I would go for at least 4-5 inches deep so in your case with a little amount of spawn I'd keep it quite small. Like 1:5 spawn to woodchips. If you leave much to be colonized you might not get fruits this fall, which is probably what you are shooting for. -I would top off with ever so little soil (from where you dug) so that wood chips still stick through the surface.
Alternatively. You can spawn in a planter as well. Ideal for small 'patches'.
There's many more ways to do it. From the top of my head I think Land Trout has some more growlogs linked in his sig as well.
Good luck! Keen to see what you come up with

Ovoids are really liking their outside bed. Getting hot so I might cover them up. Any thoughts about the heat, or should I just let em ride?

nice nitro!!! Your ovoids must survive the Georgia heat as they are natural to areas. I would plant some plants around perimeter and inside bed, and put a automatic sprinkler on them I think ovoid like water and floods more than other species
I look forward to seeing your patch bro

What I was thinking. Just going to let them ride. Plus I’ve got another good location that’s colonizing nicely that’s mixed in with the flowers and shrubs. Pretty confident that there will be fruits form these areas in the future!

Mine fruit when it's hot. We've had 80 degree days here. Often my patch will flush into aug when it's 90+ especially if it rains a bunch or I water them. There are a good amount of plants growing in the patch. Vinca and other ground cover.
Keep an eye out for ovoid prints in the marketplace soon. My patch is boomin. Printing tomorrow.

Been busy, but I finally found some time to do something with the ovoid stem-butts and chips I threw in the closet 2 weeks ago after my hunt...
Picked up some buckets of free chips from the town garage last night. Slightly fermented (maybe 2 month old) mix of local hardwood and softwood with some broken down leaves and pine needles mixed in:

Used a few large pans with holes in the bottom I had laying around from my native plant collecting days, and threw 1.5-2" in the bottom...

Stem-butts I put on a mix of chips and HWFP were coming along nicely and got put in one planter
The other two planters were inoculated with the cardboard grow-outs

Then finally all were topped off with 2 more inches of chips

Awesome giveaway as always Nichrome. Damn Blopblop going hard. It kind of makes me feel bad about what I just did today. This is my overflow garden spot in the edge of my woods. The back right corner is azurescens clone spawn.
