Inexplicable Fact
    #28786713 - 05/24/24 08:13 PM (1 month, 1 day ago)

This is a place for us to share things that don’t make sense. But that’s just the way it is.
Stuff that when you tell people they do not believe you initially.

I will start us off strong.
What does the word cat mean in Latin?

Take a second to guess. Really think about what it could possibly mean. Then get ready for the answer.

Small dog…
Yep, that’s right. That unimaginative bastard called cat a small dog. What’s a turtle called? A shell dog? What’s a camel? A hump dog? I hope that guy wasn’t in charge of naming things for very long.

inexplicable facts that don't make sense...

the first time you listen to led zeppelin ii while high is like turning into a wild dog that just ran a marathon on cocaine, but eventually both the high and the music become mundane, even tho it is simply a matter of catalyzing release of serotonin into your brain.  you'd think it would always be the same.

and yet, no matter how many times you masturbate to those facebook pictures of that one hot girl you knew in college in short shorts with perfect legs, it never gets old...  never.

there is no explanation for this.

This might be the worst OP I’ve read in a while

You’re upset that ancient language called a cat a small dog?

I presume this is an excercise in logic:
If a logical thesis is served by an illogical premise...which could be written as
(positive) + (negative) = (negative)
Then a negative + another negative would equal a positive proving his thesis.

Am I right ?

No, you’re being smart about this whole thing. You can’t possibly be right when logic is applied to something this dumb it doesn’t follow that. At least I don’t think.

I think we’ve identified the problem; me and thinking.

Negative times a negative equals a positive, that's what it is.

Humor can also be utilized to cultivate a negative, which may be an intention.

And I give thanks to everyone in this thread for their assistance; appearances can be deceiving but perhaps OP generated this thread specifically for our edification.

Cat originally meant 'dog'. The word comes from the Latin 'catulus', a small dog or puppy.

I fixed that for him.

In some languages, "cats" or its equivalent in their alphabet is used as both the singular and the plural. So you can have one cats or many cats. A bit like moose

I have personally witnessed terminal lucidity. I stayed by someone close to me until they passed away. The days prior they had a couple strokes and was majorly fucked up and couldn't remember anything and could barely talk....but right before they died they talked to me for a few minutes clear as day and told me it's going to be ok and apologized for not being able to continue to be here with me.....there is something to death.

Edit: He was somebody who wanted to die at the house so I made sure that's what was going to happen, I was the only one by his side and the last person to talk with him until he died.

Whoa, that's beautiful.

I'm sorry you had to experience that :mushroom2:

Man, is that story powerful, though. I feel like desire or intention might play a part in situations like that. For instance, if in your case, the person that passed had such a strong desire/intention to say their peace and show you Love one last time that the last of their Lifeforce (or energy, chi, whatever one wants to call it) was spent on doing just that.

Amazing, regardless of how it happens.
