I wouldn't worry about that. PC was probably the safest place for them to cool.

I've been leaving my jars overnight. Figured they'd be safest in there while I'm at work.

What’s the best food option for longer-term powdered shroom storage? Chocolate, coconut oil, gummies, something else? I want to make microdose portions but that’s going to be a hell of a lot, like more than 400 portions. I’d like some to be portable so I can do some individual candies, but I don’t mind having a jar that I can just scoop servings out of for home use. I was thinking for the bulk option maybe in a jar of coconut oil or a 1:2 mix of coconut oil and dark chocolate so that it’s self-sealing against air by the solid oil?

An hour and a half later, I was beginning to feel definite effects

Does this look like early trich? It’s Puerto Rican spawned April 5th and 9th.

I don't see any trich but there is a lot going on there that isn't good. Lots of bacteria and seemingly other fungi. Those big chunky sections oozing metabolites are what people call walling in petri dishes. It's all mixed together there so it's not really walling, but it is fighting.

I would toss and start over. That's not going to get better and even if a few fruits grow it will be gross and take forever.

Yeah, those orange droplets of slime. That’s bacterial infection. I’m pretty sure.

Chocolate is probably the most shelf stable, but to do it well probably requires tempering (I haven't tried making chocolates yet but there are some nice looking pics on the forum).

Not really what you asked, but if you're ok with capsules, they're not too hard with a capsule filler, and they seem to keep well (haven't noticed any loss of potency over 6 months). I fit about 0.35 g per 00 capsule. Somehow Beef fits more like 0.5, he must be compressing them more than I'm willing, or maybe pulverizing the mushrooms better (though I think my Vitamix with the dry container is doing that just fine).

This is the second flush after a dunk. The spawn looked slightly bacterial but sent it anyway. Got a fair showing for first fruiting. However, the second flush looks like they have a thin powdery coating.

Something doesnt look right here and I'm curious what is going on. Is this a bacterial or fungal contam? Is it normal?

Thanks in advance!

Contamination does not come from your tub, it comes from dirty spawn.  Contaminations happen because somewhere in your clean work (agar, grain, or cakes) you accidentally contaminated your cultures.  By the time you spawn to a tub, top fruit a jar, ect you are exposing your spawn and substrate to open air and all that comes along with that.

So no, you do not have to worry about contamination after spawning.  If it shows up it happened long before you spawned to sub.

Are these grains just not fully colonized or is that a sign of bacteria?
