Interesting. I think most of us are doing 2 hours.

Going to add more time from now on then. The problem is I have an electric PC and it’s maxed out at one hour. Which is crap. I’m going to get a better one soon. I want to get a big one so I can do large jars.

As long as you don’t have the pressure way too high that won’t happen. Don’t let the jars touch the bottom of the PC have them elevated on a rack or jar Tops.
45 minutes might be ok for a pint...but even those I'd feel more comfortable doing 90 minutes. For quarts I do 120 minutes, 150 if I have time.
Use the amount of water specified in the manual rather than eyeballing it. For the Presto 23 qt canner, that's 3 quarts of water. Add a couple tablespoons of vinegar if you have hard water and you don't want spots on your glass. Turn on the heat without the rocker, start a 10-15 minute timer when the locking mechanism raises and it's spewing steam, put the rocker on when the timer goes off, and let it get up to pressure. Set a timer for 2 hours (or whatever processing time you need for what you're preparing), and adjust the heat to keep the pressure without excessive hissing or rocking. (You can tape some quarters on or use washers inside the rocker to make it rock at 17-18 psi, which will make it much less noisy near 15-16.) When the time goes off, turn off the heat. Let the pressure come down on its own.
All of that last paragraph other than modifying the rocker is in the manual. It's worth reading. You can of course ignore the warning about it not being intended for making mushroom spawn.
BOD's Easy AF how to use your pressure cooker for mycology TEK has more detail. Stipe also has a great write up on autoclave cycle verification (doing so on several vessels including an Instant Pot). (Edit to link to the post I intended to.)

You can do pints for an hour but it's advisable to go longer. When I started growing I had a 12psi pc and didn't know any better so I ran it for an hour maybe an hour and a half max.
Always pint jars though, and I never vented.
It's doable but it's not advisable.

When I started I was doing my qts for 90 min at 15psi. Now I go 120min and 17psi with modified rocker.

Is there a cool way to preserve fresh mushrooms just for viewing pleasure? Like I can coat the mushroom in some kind of substance that will prevent it from rotting/degrading its form and structure.

I think some people do that with epoxy. Some are for sale on Etsy (non-actives). But might be a fun DIY project to try. I have no knowledge of how long or how well it would preserve like that though.

Whatever some of those Chinese restaurants use for their display dishes, possibly polyurethane? It’d look pretty damn cool if it could be done.

I got some swabs from a vendor, they are advertised as albino but the swabs are definitely colored. Does this mean they are not true albino's??

I believe I know the answer to this, but... mycelium piss? I have two spawn jars that look like this. I might just toss them because I don't have a vacant tub right now. But meanwhile I was just curious to get some commentary from the more experienced.

Spore are a certain color. The fruit that grow from them will be albino.

Looks like bacteria. Tossing is a good idea.

Albino spores are transparent. But swabs often pick up blue from bruising the gills.

Properly hydrated grains... How soft are they when squished between the fingers? Should they squish very easily?
