Advice on transporting jars

Hi all! I have a presto 23 qt and grain jars cooling in it after sterilization. My new lab room which contains my laminar flow hood is in my attic and up a ladder. Knowing me and my clumsiness, carrying the 23 qt up the ladder sounds like a potential for an ER visit. How would you recommend transporting my grain jars as clean as I can from my kitchen to the lab area? Or does it matter too much as far as what they are exposed to externally since the inside is now sterilized? Thanks

Naa you're fine, take them out, they need to be sterile inside, not outside
When inoculating make sure to wipe the outside with iso before opening them.

I have a similar setup with my kitchen downstairs and my lab upstairs. I’m with you on being clumsy as well. And, yep, it’s caused a lot of thinking
I now wait overnight for the PC to cool. Tripping and dropping scalding hot water — yikes. I carried it up hot once, realized what I was doing while on the stairs and haven’t done that again. Scary
I do put a rag on the top to hold down the weight and not let crud get sucked into the PC. Not sure if that matters
I haven’t figured a way to open the PC prior to being in front of the flow hood. Just seems too risky after all the work
Maybe a basket and some rope? Going up a ladder with a PC seems like too much. Even if you just carry up the jars, that’s still super tricky
I have been trying to get an induction stovetop setup going but I don’t think the unit I have gets hot enough. Also, the PC needs a steel bottom — different model. If you have the ability to cook near your lab space, maybe that’s a path
Looking forward to how you solve the problem

Getting a stove upstairs seems like a good idea.
Another idea is maybe to use a bag instead of carrying your cooker. Or make your presto a presto dufflebag or a presto rugsack. Also great for hiking!

I hear you - I would have panicked half way up the stairs too. Check out the response above yours - I think I'm going to save myself the worry and the potential back injury and transport them a few at a time up into the attic and keep things safe.

Carry the jars in a refrigerator bags 3 at a time, I've broken my leg falling down stairs for similar reason , wipe down the jars when your set up and be fine.its pouring the agar that will be your issue.

Tighten your jars, put them in a backpack and climb the ladder.
And yeah like mentioned get a heating plate up in your lab.

Carrying jars is for peasants. Up your game and install a pneumatic tube system like the rest of us already have. 6" tubes work great for WM quart jars.

just carry the jars carefully, you don´t have to carry them all at once.

Cut a hole in the ceiling about the size of a jar. Get fancy, add a small door

We also have an old house, like +-100 years old. Though we thought about a pneumatic tube system, we expect such an installation could lead to (undesired) collapsing walls. So in case of an old house, better to just hire a butler. Also great for shaking jars!
