1 Jar is growing a little slow
    #2878300 - 07/11/04 04:35 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

-- or not at all. I have 3 jars right now that i have the substrate in and they were pressure cooked 3 weeks ago. I waited a week to make sure there were no contaminates (and there werent) so i injected them. Since then i have kept them in a dark place where the temperature stays between 75-80 (a little low i know) and 2 of the jars are growing at a good rate. The last jar shows absolutely no growth. There is no contamination and the substrate all came from the same batch in all the jars. They were steralized together also. I dont understand why 2 of the 3 jars will grow all under the exact same conditions. Any help is appreciated.

well same thing kinda happened to me. i only made 1 jar for my first attempt, and after i innoculated, only 2 of the 4 holes started growing. im guessing its from when i flamed the needle i didnt let the needle cool enough so when i injected, the first two shots of spores died, and by the 3rd innoculation, it was cool enough for the spores to get through.

It could be that the hot needle killed them like he said, but also keep in mind that you might not necessarily see bacterial contams, so dont be so sure when you say there are no contams.
