I guess I’ll try to transfer some of the thicker patches to new agar plates.
With pans, a lot of folks would target thin myc for transfers rather than the thickest growth. I don't know if that has been disproved, but ime the thin growth mycelium produces fruiters and the thick stuff is more likely to colonize spawn and then just sit there and do nothing. Could be anecdotal, but if it were my plates I would transfer at least some of the thin myc in addition to the thicker patches. The thick growth never seems to produce symmetric nice looking plates but the thin stuff will with enough patience.
Also check out brf pucks and water agar for cleaning up tricky cultures. A few myceliated grains to a puck is a great way to save a culture from a sketchy jar.

I've definitely made the claim that you want to go for the wispy growth. But hey, that's just what was working for me at the time. I had figured out the thicker stuff wasn't fruiting at all.
But then you get stuff like jcm's jambos which break all the rules.
I can't say there's any hard rules around this. You get a few fruits, print them, do another grow. Rinse and repeat. Then you eventually get something that works really well for your conditions. Probably.

Absolutely. My ttbvi recovers so damn fast I redistribute my grain jars like 3 times and they’re done in 10 days

Hello all. New to than pans side of hunting. But I found these guys in my apartment garden in Clark Co Ohio. They were a lil dry so they didn’t drop a lot of spores, but to my eye they looked black. I’ve seen many foe spore prints. Anything good here?

Those are bruised well. A suggestion I could make about the dryness and attempting to print is to lightly mist the cap with water on a sheet of foil, and cover the moistened cap with a vessel of some sort such as a bottle cap or small jar.

Some nice flushes of BVI. I've been having success with sterile sub/casing as well as pasteurized sub/casing.

I'm experimenting with running some lower ratios, usually I do 1:3 but I have some 1:5/1:6 trays going to see how it does. The more agressive the strain, the higher amount of spawn can potentially drain the water/nutrients in your sub faster I find.
