What's wrong with my growkit?

Hello!
2nd time grower here if it counts because my first try got contaminated. What could be wrong with the growkit I am using right now since it is not growing? Some photos... back side:

I set up the kit under pristine conditions after the first one died due to contamination. After 7 days mycelium (I hope) was visible on the surface which grew a tiny bit further. I was too curious and moved the kit around a bit and also used a heating mat because it was cold. After 22 days there was barely any mycelium visible, so I cold shocked the kit, as advised on some vendor's site. I also opened it for the first time to FAE and mist. Now I am at day 28 and there are a few tiny mushrooms deep inside the kit as seen on the pictures but nothing on the surface. The kit was kept at 23-28°C (73-82°F), never in direct sunlight, normal amount of indirect sunlight.
Any ideas what's wrong? Is there still hope? What can be done?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Meanwhile I will be reading on why growkits suck

Noob here, but I have yet to see anyone here recommending cold shocking, I am pretty sure that is ill advised. I am not sure if there is hope, I would personally try again while giving it more time. LITFA (leave it the fuck alone) and patience are key in this hobby.

Cubes are fine at room temp, lose the heating mat

Is that standing water in the substrate or is it like a water tub? I can't tell. Also how did you do your inoculation? Spore syringe?

It's poured to the bag, as instructions say
If it was mine i'd free it from the plastic, and settle it flipped over to a water tub. Looks like it will be full of side and bottom pins.
And yeah what fiddle said already, no heating mat, if ever needed, use a space heater. Also the water is no benefit to me.
This one needs air exchage now.

After reading quite a bit on using grow kits I can say that advice is often contradictory across sources (vendors). Not leaving it alone was for sure a mistake, but i didn't open the bag for over 21 days. Now it's day 29, which is very far away from the usual 14 days for pinning.

It used to be 18°C (64°F) in the room until recently. Isn't that too cold? Now it gets really warm (attic), so I don't use the mat.

Water tub. I didn't do the inoculation. The kit comes in a state where it only needs soaking for 12h, pouring the excess water out and then placing it in the grow bag/water tub. At least in theory, because it has not been working for me.

unless it is getting really down there the rh in the bag will be sufficient to raise the temp. cubes are fine to colonize grain at room temp; i have had jars do fine at 61-63 degrees F.
