Cool pictures! What microscope were they taken with? Did you try to exterminate those mites?

So, I have 8 PF Tek cakes shot with a spore syringe, 5 of which are already in a water tub.

I have the last 3 dunking before I roll them. On one of the last 3 cakes, there was a small area that looked a little fuzzy, which I was concerned might be bacterial (small, about the size of a penny). I meant to take a picture and ask and then forgot, or I wouldn't have dunked that cake with the other 2 cakes. If I suspect one might be bacterial, or possibly all 3 since they are now soaking in the same water, should I still put them in the same tub as the 5 that I did not see any contamination on? Is there a risk of the bacteria spreading to the other cakes?

I wouldn't worry about the bacteria spreading. If your cakes are properly consolidated they will be fine. The brown rice flour inhibits the motility of bacteria anyway. i don't think you have a problem here, but if your worried, isolate the one with the fuzz somewhere else until you can get a clear picture for us.

I looked at the wet cakes soaking and didn't see anything, but when I put them back in the water, I notice one of them had this stuff hanging off it in the water. The other 2 cakes didn't have anything like this.

Will these fruits be safe to eat? And can this contaminate other grows if it’s separated to another part of the house? I wish I could bury it outside but I don’t have any space outdoors.

That just looks like rooted sheets of filament to me, like torn paper. i don't see anything concerning here, but it just looks like a normal cake. try to get more pics of the fuzz one.

What do you recommend to do for getting rid of these mites? They're everywhere and in an old house like mine they seem impossible to prevent. Are they spiders that climb the tub to get in? Would pesticides sprayed in grow area like corners and baseboards and shelving areas help?

I'd try spinosad diluted in your mister along with BT but I'd say spinosad is a good bet to remove mites.

I have Bifenthrin it says it kills all mites and their eggs so I suppose just using it as a barrier spray around grow room would work.

I got my first flush coming in, how are these looking?
I know there’s a lot of side pins, my substrate was a bit dry and had some shrinkage, leaving space on the edges.
Also are these feet a bit too fuzzy? I followed pasty’s hole pattern and am using Beefys tubs. No fans or a/c running in this room.

I have a sealed jug of distilled water laying around. Can I use that for hydrating coir? Is there any advantage over tap water?

Sure, it'll work fine.  It's probably cleaner than your tap water so there's that...but tap water works fine unless it is really low quality water.

I don’t believe it’s necessary but I personally prefer drinking distilled water because all it is is just water, no minerals or bull shit found in bottled out city water.

You’ll have to ask the mushrooms what they prefer.

I should pry google this before looking like an idiot....but isn't there something with reverse osmosis where distilled water can leech nutrients and minerals out of you and you flush it out when you pee?

I could be way off base, but I just heard them talking about it at work last week
