For a first attempt those are amazing results! Subs be bluing baby. I noticed when my first grow was more spread out with less fruits, the ones I did have were thicker. I hope these help you get the healing you need.

Thank you! Not my first grow, nor my first boxes, but these are my first successful semperviva boxes (rip in peace to your fallen green brethren)… I haven’t had a spectacular success rate so far but it’s a process 😁
Yes, on closer inspection figured it was simply bluing.
Good to know about the fruit size, I have actually read about that being a thing on the forums but forgot about it, so thanks for the reminder I have gotten a couple of extreme thiccbois, some with a sort of weird swollen bit, kinda hillbilly pumpkin look just under the cap.
I think the swelling was maybe rounder and more dramatic before. There was one other similar fruit which I picked already, it was solid through the swelling. Those two were amongst the very first pins from about 2 weeks ago. Here’s some pics of that box. Only those two long guys are developing spores as far as I can tell, I’m going to try to print them. The pins in the middle have grown since I misted them earlier today so that’s cool you can see the pumpkin one is getting more blue even on the cap. Is this just bruising from being misted? Should I be worried?

I wouldn't worry too much, I had some gnarly ones that looked identical to that and also never produced spores. Very interesting. I think chris77 had some too. I wonder what is causing those phenotypes. It would be awesome to have a full canopy of those. Here are mine.

It’s interesting how some are brownish on the cap and some are more golden amber. Is this due to the different semperviva lineages? Mine are definitely golden amber.

Hm, I’ve got a couple making spores in my sparse box, a couple weeks old at this point but they aren’t brown. Interesting.
Pics from the lush box 😊

I just checked out the color as I misted, the older ones do look browner, but not as brown as some of the pics here. I’ll keep it in mind.
So what is the best harvesting strategy when you aren’t getting an even pinset? Right now I’m just picking singles as needed for now, but I’m going to need to dry most of these. Some of them are bumping their heads on the cloth cover but they aren’t fully ripe yet. I could dubtub in my SAB in the meantime. But if they don’t all make spores, and the ones that do take like 10 days at least to do so after cap opening, is there even a best time to harvest? Also, what should I do about side pins growing down and getting all big down the sides?
