End of life regrets * 2
    #28774927 - 05/15/24 08:39 AM (8 days, 16 hours ago)

These are the top 5 end of life regrets, from the mouth of a hospice worker.

I wish that I had let myself be happier
I wish that I had stayed in touch with my friends
I wish that I had the courage to express my feelings
I wish I hadn't worked so hard
I wish I had lived a life true to myself rather than the life others expected from me

Going by these things,

I think it's true that we must let ourselves be happier. Such permission isn't everything but it is something.
Might be a good idea to stay in touch with friends, so long as they are quality friends.
People could generally use more courage. There's more regret of things unsaid than things said.

The last two, I think it's good to work hard but there is too much of a good thing. And if a person is working hard for the life that others want this may affect our perception of it.

Any things you can think of to add to the list?

I had it distilled down to relax and interact in context, but the list looks great!
my simpler approach may require some detachment and abstraction.

Not sure you will = not sure you won't. Not being sure means very difficult to make peace with. Avoidance is reasonable to a point. I think there's a process to it and not something that happens all at once.

It also matters what you mean by "I" but people are usually talking about body/personality.

I don't make it a habit of supporting the delusional beliefs of others, nor do I feel any need to help with them when it's not wanted.

But since you are in this thread, are there any possible end of life regrets you would like to offer for discussion? Or is there some other reason you are posting here?

You do not know if I am delusional or not.

I am posting to bring awareness.

That's true but I'm pretty certain. I think you know as well, but all things in good time I suppose.

In the course of talking about philosophical subjects certainly we pick them or engage in them due to some personal component. Yet in so much as it's a useful discussion it will be relatable to others. The idea that you are special offers nothing for anyone but you.

So again, end of life regret issues? That's what this thread is intended to bring awareness to. Do you have something to offer to the thread or are you here for some other reason?

All you have offered is a (delusional) perspective about yourself that does nothing to raise awareness about the regrets old people express before they die.

Congratulations :cookiemonster:

If there is no end of life, there are no end of life regrets. Methinks that is important to add. But you do you, Rhaz.

The body quits working. Then it rots unless special accommodations are made but it won't move on it's own or talk any more. It would just be a mummy sitting there looking strangely not alive. No more conversation. No more spending time with loved ones. If there is something more to it (after death of the body), I don't know and don't care to make assumptions about it. I do suspect nothing happens as I have zero evidence to suspect something happens.

There are old people who's bodies quit working and prior to doing so they express regrets. That's what this thread is about. They are not things that just pop up at the last minute. They are things which likely are an issue throughout a person's life. Talking about them might help people address those issues so that they don't have regrets.

I don't accept that as proof of anything. Evidence of mental issues imo.
