Time between outdoor flushes
    #2876594 - 07/10/04 07:40 PM (19 years, 8 months ago)

I had a great outdoor flush( 22 meaty little mushrooms) but now I am back playing the waiting game.

While my indoor poo pies pin like normal, 3-5 days between flushes.

My outdoor patch hasent been very active.

How long do you think I will have to wait ??????

I am giving the patch water daily.

If you water daily, be sure it is only a light misting. Add some sort of humidity tent or shade cloth to help keep humidity up. Be particulary careful when watering to not disturb the casing surface too much, water gently and don't water too often. An outdoor patch can be over-watered just as a casing can which will hinder growth. Evaporation helps the mycelium transport nutrients to the surface...

Mother nature is at the wheel outside otherwise...

Sorry one more thing..........

"Be particulary careful when watering to not disturb the casing surface too much, water gently and don't water too often."

So if I moved some dirt and poo to expose more mycelium with the belief that it might help pinning thats a bad thing :frown: well I did just that. :frown:

Because this patch pinned early(I still had the plastic on and I was trying to get the mycelium to eat more poo, well when the weather got cold for awhile I opened it to check one day and found pins.

So the dirt/poo on top, not a thick layer, acted  like a casing layer, so after the first flush I thought I would scrape back some dirt and poo to expose the mycelium, and thus get it pinning quicker, dumb move I guess ?? :frown:

I have heard that while you are getting ready to pic your first flush, the mycelium is forming the second(where you cant see it) I dont know if this is true, but I wish I would have aired on the side of caution.

(I assume that I will get another flush, but it will take longer because I GUESS that I disturbed the pins that were forming) STUPID :frown:
