I went. I had a great time. I wasn't into to many of the bands other than Rage Against The Machine, Metallica and Willie Nelson but it was still an incredible time.
Also, other than a little bit of weed I was totally sober to. The bone-head macho attitude was everywhere though. I saw guys pulling up shirts of girls who didn't want to.

yeah, that sucked. there were too many from "the wrong crowd" at the festival. the heat was unbearable. the water was overpriced. the shitters were overflowing. the music outshined the madness. metallica and ratm back to back....you can't beat that. it was great, until the brainless heathens starting burning and tearing the place down. i was somewhat disillusioned by large festivals, due to the end of w99. wakarusa restored my faith in large groups of music lovers; the right kind of people were there.

I don't know why people had a problem with water. I drank free water all weekend. I just found a empty gallon jug and filled it up in the fountain whenever I wanted.

i do. not everyone is as resourceful as you. i didn't have to spend a dime on water, since i brought about five gallons of it with me. it seemed that most people didn't bring any water. i don't know what everyone thought they were going to drink while they were there.

LIttle bottles of water were about $4.00, but I just found my gallon jugs and washed them out.

I'm a very non-violent, but I would have had a difficult time not beating someones ass if I saw them sexually assaulting a woman, mob mentality or no. I probaly would have got my ass kicked, but at least I would have felt good about it.

It was a stupid ass idea to even try and replicate what happened at Woodstock back in the late `60s

Yeah, how can a bunch of corporations think that they can even come close to replicating something like woodstock. Woodstock was magical(Or so the story goes). You can throw all the $$$ you want at an event, but you can't buy magic.

'95 was pretty damned good, peaceful, and friendly ... although it took people a while to learn how to be.
The disaster that was '99 was brought on by idiots, heat, and the fact that the water areas were a great distance from the stage. Have you ever tried to move from somewhere up near the stage someplace like that to the back of the area? In '95 it took me about one and a half or two hours to make it from the back of the 'crowd' in front of the main stage to within fifty feet of the stage.

In lieu of this post I started looking into viewing material on Woodstock 99. I was not aware Insane Clown Posse was one of the performing artists. In the official bullshit Woodstock 99 concert film the ICP song they featured is Fuck the World so I dled it on Kazaa.
If someone had told me there was a stupider band there than Limp Bizkit I wouldn't have believed it and if you'd told me there was a stupider song performed than Break Stuff I wouldn't have believed that either but there you have it.

what pisses me off is when people refer to woodstock as woodstock '69. It's not woodstock 69, it's woodstock. The other two were...I don't know what you'd call the other two. But I don't think it was right to use the woodstock name like that, obviously for the soul purpose of marketing the event. It was shameless corporatization.
