Storing Agar Plates?

Looking for some advice on slowing/storing agar plates please?
I only really need one grow a year for myself, but of course with all the fiddling around with agar plates, with different strains, and with the fact that it is no harder to do 20 agar plates than it is to do 5... I have a bunch of promising looking agar plates that I really have no use for right now. I use glass petri dishes with parafilm.
I know many people make liquid culture for storage, but I am reluctant to do that because I am working in a SAB and it all looks a bit complicated.
Does anyone have any tips on ways of storing decent agar plates for the future? Can I put them in the freezer?

Colonized agar in distilled water in cryovials is a nice option, too. Takes up very little space and can be kept at room temperature without risk of it pinning and dropping spores on your culture.
If you've got space in the fridge, you could also make grain spawn and store the colonized jars or bags. It's a little quicker to come back from since you can either send it directly to bulk or use it to inoculate a bunch more grain when you're ready.
Edit: also, you can keep plates for months at room temp, or even more months in the fridge. The biggest risks are the plates drying out (use a freezer Ziploc) or freezing in the fridge (use a cooler or insulated lunch box to protect them from big temp swings). Slants and cryovials just last longer and take up less space.

Slants are a good option. Storing in distilled water vials is another option to read up on. The OFFICIAL Stasis Storage Thread

Yep, I use the cryo vials. But I couldn't find the right link. 😂

You can usually get a good year or two out of thick poured and well sealed petri. Sometimes longer. It does begin to take a lot of space though. Cryovials have helped me greatly in that regard and work great. It's simply agar wedges stored in distilled water.

Never heard of cryovails, thanks for the link.
I come from a "no-pour" background, so slants always ended up being a mess for me. I've also stored and retrieved no-pours in the fridge over a year. I've considered adding a popsicle stick to the no-pours to give them a little extra lifespan. They do take up a lot of room though.
