Atlantean Rye Grain Tek
Here is how I do rye grain for those of you that struggle with it. It is a superior source of nutrition in my opinion for my cultures.
We will be doing a few different strains with these grains. So grab your popcorn if you want to watch and follow along.
Start with measuring out the necessary amount for your working. I am preparing 90 jars for LC (liquid culture) inoculation.

I use a standard measuring cup to measure. 1 full cup per myco quart when it is dry and 2 cups hydrated when going into the jars after boil/simmer.
Here is 90 cups of grain. Good for 90 jars

Stainless Steel only IMO. I also presoak for 12-24 hours before hand to germinate any other spores or bacteriaβs present in/on the husk. Also serves as a nice rinse. And you can save and reuse the soak water.

Use your strainer to load your pots

This is how my Rye grain looks going in and before the heat gets to them and begins to hydrate the inner portion of the grain. Boil / Simmer for 15ish minute depending on your heat source.

Here is how they look hydrated.

I use Brewer's bags to strain after the boil. Can be found online or at your local brewing store.

Make sure they are secure.

Here is what your completed grain should look like coming off the stove.

And loaded into jars to be pressure sterilized at 15psi for 90-120min.

So you put in 2 cups of hydrated grain (fresh out of the strainer and still wet) along with 1 cup of dry grain and then PC?

No. It was written weird. Sorry about that. I have corrected it to make more sense.

Oh I see what you mean. Rye doubles in size when hydrated properly...
