It's far more likely it was the spawn than the coir. Any time I have had trich issues it's because it was hiding in my grain and I spawned it to the tub. I'm not saying it's not possible it was the coir, but I don't think it's likely.

Looks bacterial in any case. Really curious what that would look like on agar.
This looks like a possible candidate.
Another possibility I found is red metabolites, but can't find much about it, below was the most informative post I could find but it's from 2009.

It doesn't appear to be part of the growth, if you tilt the jar, it looks to be a red liquid and not pictured the growth is visible on top of the grain as well and appears to looks normal.

I'll keep it around and monitor it for now.

Yeah those aren't red metabolites. To be perfectly specific, you have both lipstick mold (I promise you), and visible colonies of bacteria. Lipstick mold grows slow and tends to stay localized as it does. It's just a jar of heartache, friend. Fun to observe though. Sometimes I let mold grow out to observe it. 9/10 fun time. . Best wishes on your next projects though.

I do remember with 1 jar while inoculating I let the wedge touch the lip of the jar and I thought at the time "uh oh, that's probably fucked."
High probability it was this jar, it's labeled "S1" so I know it's from that batch of jars.
I have 7 other jars with no visible contamination, and 2 back up plates and grain jars. Plus 2 "ziploc" tek's that are coming along nicely.
No big lose, I anticipated a fuck up or two that's all part of the learning process.
Little paranoid about inhaling this shit after reading about it, the old immune system is fucked from several run ins with cancer.
Would pressure cooking before opening it outside to toss it be overkill

I was reading some older threads and someone said when you have like .5cc left un an lc syringe, you can draw in a honey solution. Is this a thing to get more out of a syringe?

If you know exactly what you're doing and are being absolutely sterile the entire time, why not. But in the same vein it's easier and safer to propagate that .5 cc to another LC you made instead or on agar
Learn agar by the way. I'm assuming you are asking this question because you're working with vendor LC syringes

Right. I'm still really new, but it's becoming pretty apparent that I should learn to work with agar.

Yeah despite being initially daunting, Agar is the honestly my favorite part of the process, something about the growth and transferring that is super cool and interesting!

A.
 B.
C.
Any comments on these Semp plates?
I feel like these are/were clean from MS plates. But they are growing kinda weird. Not super familiar with semp myc, but I feel like I took from a good spot.
I’m thinking I’ll take a biopsy from B. Around 6 o’clock.
It seems like the myc is growing underneath the surface. Or is that contamination? It doesn’t look like bacteria, maybe another type of mold, but I don’t think so. Maybe some of the more experienced Semp growers can comment.

Looks clean to me even if I don't grow semps. A lot of shrooms tend to have this weird ass growth, even cubes
You prob want to keep transferring to get something that's less all over the place tho (for B particularly)
And yes myc will often grow into agar. Got a few cube plates that started doing this shit, and all my pleurotus do this by default. Looks identical
