All drug use can be generalized as passive suicidal ideation. People that want to stay clear and cognizant of their surroundings generally stay sober.
No, it can't, and no, they don't.
There's a world of difference between the "dope scene" that TBA is talking about and more general drug use.
Yeah. If you consider "the world" to be equivalent to "two bar stools".
Any drug use is escapism. Escapism isn't necessarily bad, but it is still escaping from life.
So then you're just describing almost all human life as escapism. The vast majority of humans (and a good many non-human animals) ingest some sort of psychoactive substance, and/or intentionally seek out altered states of consciousness. Even the fervor that typically accompanies being "clean" could arguably be described as an altered state.
Being able to come up with witty one-liners doesn't prove your absurdly reductionist point.
Now you're starting to catch on. Freud, being not particularly imaginative, called it Thanatos. Schopenhauer is a better source, though.

The tech scum never should’ve been allowed to overrun San Fran. I hope to live long enough to see the vagrants parading through the streets with the heads of venture capitalists and software developers upon pikes.

That's funny , for the most part the homeless population in San Fran is too malnourished , high , disoriented , physically ill , mentally ill and just plain lacking gumption to get together and carry out mass murder .

There doesn’t need to be a coordinated movement. Chaos is a great equalizer in its own right. That’s all this fucked up country is—a disinterested, slow-moving clusterfuck of chaos.
