My guy, we've seen pictures of your apartment before. That thing is so clean you pretty much live in a sterile lab setting. I'd be comfy doing open air in that place as well
Really interested in seeing where this is going, please keep us updated on the open air work!

I'll be updating progress in the MCVB thread. I want to go from spore to fruit with all open air work to illustrate the importance of technique over choice of equipment

Trying to dial my martha in anticipation of trays. From what I understand, we want high temps (78F-80F), high humidity (90+%), and high FAE while maintaining proper surface conditions.
My setup is a fogger box (mist head float + box mounted fan) fed into the top of the martha with a computer fan exhaust at the bottom. All fans are variable speed. I've got an empty tray on all racks to simulate how my cycles are affecting "surface" conditions.
This is the point where I see two paths:
- Use sensors to cycle fogger/heater until conditions are met while simultaneously (on a separate circuit), cycle the exhaust until surface conditions are met.
- Put everything on timers and adjust accordingly.
It's irrelevant, but I'm currently running option 2 with fogger running for 1 minute and exhaust (+ fogger fan) for 3.5 minutes. Cycle repeats every 10minutes. All trays show beads and no pooling on surface with no condensation on sides. RH reads ~80% when fogger is on and ~60% at the end of exhaust cycle. The logical step is boosting fogger time to get a higher humidity... but I wanted to ask the martha pros in here about going with option 1.

I like option one but the conditions in my room where my tent is fluctuate quite a bit as far as humidity and temperature so the sensor lets me not have to redial it in every time the seasons change right.
Rockin Robot turned me onto this one. It does tend to trigger the alarm at high humidity but the calibration can be adjusted (just adjust your humidity to offset it so you don't flood your tent). It also includes a temperature controller which I run connected to a tote with a water heater in it in the base of my tent. I run the lights at night since our house is cool at night to balance it out.
I've fruited bisporus and cyan ttbvi at between 72 and 80. The temperature fluctuates quite a bit and it runs hot at night (I use high lumen floodlights since high temps are desirable anyway and promote more evaporation).
Anyway, my experience based on my conditions and preferences.

Thanks for the hardware tip! Do you use just one of those Elitechs to run both your heat and your fog? Seems like you'd need separate ones if running option #1.
Are you running an active exhaust fan on a cycle? I've also read people suggesting to have a low-speed exhaust fan just constantly running...

Do you know what variety of Panaeolus cambodginiensis you have?

Wow neglect got ya fatties I'm not pan expert excuse my ? If dumb, but are bisporus known to be potent? Do they bruise or hide blue bruising? I see so many pics but not with them bruising

I find them potent, while also warm and forgiving.
These bruise blue, but not as quickly or intensely as other pans I’ve grown.

That controller does both heat and humidity.
I run a fan on a separate timer. A full FAE every twenty minutes seems good. I've experimented with more, but it means filling the humidifier more often, more cleaning the water tray, and babysitting the casings a bit with the mister.

Went to 2 LC recipes and then A2G with this plate. Doing SSLC of GWLC and LME to do a side-by-side.
I took the LC pokes at 7 and 5 and took the wedge from 4 to 8.

Got excited when I saw them colonized in 2 weeks so I forgot to dunk the cakes and just rolled them in a thick verm layer, about 1 - 1.5 cm. Placed in a 14 lt watertub with the lid flipped. 2 cakes got pins all of a sudden, I guess they were hiding under the mycelium.

I got a 70 g first flush off of these, dried down to 5.1. A smaller second flush is underway now and a rye jar is colonizing with the same SSLC. Don't know when I'll be able to sample them, but I want to get enough for at least 1-2 capsule batches first anyway.

Nice work Lyle. Say hi to Chip for me.
What do y'all think about this myc? Came from a spore syringe labeled Pan Cyan Hawaii shot to a MacMerdin-style cake. Initially there was a tiny germination spot that was more whispy, then a week later another spot germinated that was very rhizomorphic, and this rhizo myc took over the cake.
I'm skeptical that it's Pan myc. Thoughts?

Should be fully colonized by the weekend. Looking forward to opening it up to get a better look/smell

Hi all, I’m about to pasteurize some horse manure and straw for pan cyan WBS spawn. Don’t really want to stink up my apartment though, which did happen the last time I tried this, so wondering if I can soak my straw for a few hours, then mix it with the manure in a turkey bag and pasteurize the bag in the oven?

The manure shouldnt smell. If it does something is wrong. I wouldnt bother using straw either just stick to coir. Unless youre dead set on using straw.
