Wait after first flush
    #28765262 - 05/07/24 01:09 PM (1 month, 19 days ago)

Is it possible to wait several days after the first flush before rehydrating for the second flush? Unfortunately I'm away for a week. Will this harm the mycelium? Thx!

Plenty of folks, myself included, don't bother re-hydrating after the first flush at all. You should be fine.

While it's possible to initiate a second flush without rehydrating the substrate, doing so may not be optimal unless the substrate still retains sufficient moisture from the initial preparation. Mushrooms are highly dependent on moisture for growth, and each flush tends to deplete the substrate's water content.

If the substrate appears dry or the first flush was large and exhaustive, skipping rehydration might result in a smaller or delayed second flush. The mycelium could also experience stress, potentially affecting future productivity.
