Jack Brown said: Hi there,
I joined just to respond to this thread.
I think I'm part of your targeted demographic, as psilocybin goes mainstream: I read Michael Pollan, tried and successfully grew mushrooms via Reddit (Uncle Ben's), tried again and failed miserably, and ended up here to learn how to do it right.
And, to be honest, finding information that suits my needs has been arduous: I've spent dozens of hours searching and reading, and converting teks and posts into my own instructions.
This msg isn't a complaint - there's tremendous information here, but it's like a library without a card catalog, or even bookshelves, or librarians. This msg is actually a compliment: I'm glad to see that efforts are being made to take the very best information, distill it, and present it in a way that's accessible and engaging.
Regarding "all ideas are welcome": please hire content creators who, first and foremost, know about _instructional design_. And who understand audience analysis.
PS One more thing, unrelated: Winterland - I noticed the rose. June 9, '77. The whole show is great, but the second set - well, I think it's some of the best music they ever played. You probably know, but just in case you didn't, I'm letting you know. Because if you don't know, you really should know.
This. Post. Here. Well said! “This msg isn't a complaint - there's tremendous information here, but it's like a library without a card catalog, or even bookshelves…”
Edited to add: There’s definitely a lot of librarians - the people who help guide us through all the info are superheroes helping spread the benefits of mushrooms. I’m looking forward to seeing the site developments 😀

I would recommend adding a better system cataloging sections. So teks for certain stages or processes of cultivation can easily be found.
I.E. Mushroom Cultivation>First Steps> Agar> Best Agar Recipes, Teks, Etc Mushroom Cultivation> Fruiting> Monotub> Best Tub Teks Mushroom Cultivation> Ps. Cubensis> Spawn> WBS Prep Tek, Jar lid teks, etc.
But pretty much every tek can then select major tags that it would fall under and this would clean up a lot of search functionality.
*Edit* I was Stoned and had to clean up some wording

Maybe a clickable flowchart like this one.

But not this one since it's dated.

Identification has drawn many members to this site who were just looking for a one time mushroom i.d. Also when you've got some front runners a poll would be nice, let us feel we were included ( like voting for the President)

ive been asked to consolidate all the threads from hitchhikers guide into a single list.
hysteria did most of the work somewhere with a script and im still too lazy to do it.
but yeah. i should probably do that.
comebackkids surface condition thread is probably the most references tek out there.
strohs agar tek is STILL good after all these years.

Yahra said: Please make it so that you can switch units of measurement in each tek.
Most teks use U.S. feet, cups, pints, etc. which are useless for the rest of the world.
The rest of the world can translate the measures themselves, just like I do.
The more relevant, useful, and difficult translation would be into whatever the most readily available vessels are in different places. We don't use myco-quarts because we hate the metric system. We use myco-quarts because Ball wide-mouth quart canning jars are widely available across the US. Same for half-pint wide-mouth jars and PF tek.

Yeah, that's woefully outdated.
Nothing at all on there about asking for advice and then throwing a fit when people tell you that your spawn isn't clean.

The most helpful pages for beginners starting out may be TEKs,
but the most helpful pages for learning about different species seem to have been crunched into single huge threads. We've got The Official Woodlovers Thread Official Copelandia/Panaeolus Thread Official Ps. Subtropicalis/Semperviva Thread Etc. etc.
I only recently realized that you can search within a thread, but this cannot be done using the 'search' page (only at the bottom of each thread).
These threads are huge, and getting bigger. Too inconvenient to read through.
I've been thinking, Why can't you organize things better.
Maybe P. cubensis should have it's own 'cultivation page', and the other species, as we get more and more information on them, should be organized in their own space.
We can encourage people to start out on TEKS, but a more comprehensive understanding comes from reading all about each species.
Woodlovers should have their own area; they have their own 'culture'
Lastly; Do we really have to have it where everyone has to make a post in a thread if they want to get notifications about that thread? It works really well, but everytime somebody adds an empty post or a or whatever emoji, Everyone has to scroll through that for the rest of eternity to distill out the good information.
There is a 'toggle favorite' button, but that doesn't work as well as the 'threads' feature. I'd love to get more threads in my 'threads' without having to go through them all and make posts to bloat up the threads.

Definitely some awesome references in here, my gosh things have changed since I was Tekkin.
My go to and fav was docs wbs tek. Simple processes and easy to understand with very little investment. Also old school af - shoutout to doc
https://www.shroomery.org/9030/Docs-Wild-Bird-Seed-Tek
Oh even the tek has a disclaimer do not use. Sheesh - if it worked in 1992 it can work now dagnabbit!!
