It's really best to steer clear of mushrooms that come from a substrate hit by mold, even if the mushrooms themselves look fine. The thing is, they could still pick up some not-so-great stuff from the mold, like toxins, which isn’t something you want to risk. Keeping everything clean and mold-free in your growing setup isn't just good for the mushrooms; it's essential for your health too. So, when in doubt, it’s safer to just toss them out and start fresh.

Jesus! Somebody needs to start a photo contest for the absolute worst mushroom photos and this one can be the 1st month winner. That is hideous. I'd recommend filling the tub with wads of newspaper, adding a few small logs, topping with a cup of lighter fluid, setting it ablaze right before letting it drift out to sea.

I hear you, but I mean I just spawned these in February, so they're not even that old yet. I was just hoping to get a 7th flush off of them.

I realize now I shouldn't have stacked all those shoebox cakes in a larger tub without a liberal amount of H2O2. I'm pretty sure that's what caused the trich.

I did end up throwing this in the compost, but I noticed that the interior wasn't green. I'm thinking maybe I should have just scraped the top and dunked them.

"Just" spawned them in February and "only" 7 flushes?

You know, they say if you love something you should let it go. If it doesn't come back and drop green moldy shit all over your face, then it was meant to be.

With 7 prior flushes I assume you have a nice stash of mushrooms so id just toss the lot in the bin and do without a few g of fruits.

You could if you're really desperate. But I wouldn't recommend it.

This is true.

If anything, take this as a PSA: mothers, tell your children, not to do what I have done...don't put off composting your old substrates, the cleanup gets way less fun...

It’s funny how a thoroughly contaminated, green tub once put out to pasture in the compost can then lose the green, or at least halt it and then pump out a heap more fruits.
