I didn't know where else to share this little hack. Anyway these clips work great for holding little vials.

Need to print myself an enclosure but I'm really liking the speed and cost for the induction sterilizer build. Coil+board was $5 delivered from AliExpress, had a 6A 12v power supply kicking around. Switch pedal was $10 delivered, wired it into the AC side.

Nice build!!
I personally would have wired the pedal switch on the DC low voltage side. I’d rather get popped by 12v dc when the switch malfunctions than 120v AC any time of the day.

Eh, I hear you but the treadle switch is rated for AC, 15 amps, and the PSU cable made the modification you're suggesting inconvenient.

This way I could chain two standard PSU cables for length and positioning the pedal, without risking the PSU 12v side which might be sensitive to inductive load or spiking.

$4 wire mesh food cover at dollar store. I picked up two of them, they work great as strainers for grain prep, much larger than most strainers and 1/3-1/4 the price.

This. So fuckin much. If you intend to do any amount of grain beyond a single jar at a time, get a large strainer. It's such a pain in the ass having to cycle 80 times through a small ass one.

I found one for $2 at the dollar store. Comes with a poker and a loop end. Works as a stainless steel inoculation loop.

The dollar stores around here are filled with useless crap. Well if they even still exist at this point lol, I think that's still mainly a big thing in the US, not so much in yourope

I'm looking for one of those thingies that allow you to cut up a clean circle in agar and put it to another plate, but that you can actually flame sterilize.
All the ones I've found around had cheap plastic for the pushing mechanism, iirc some fishing tool or whatever, if anyone has a hint for me

Lots of Asian markets have huge rice colanders that are perfect for our hobby. You can find them on the internet as well. Very common in South East Asian countries.

I have a large strainer, and I like it, but I like my much cheaper 5 gallon paint strainer bag even more. It saves so much time - I put the grain in the bag before rinsing, it stays in the bag through boiling and draining, and draining is just throwing the bag in the sink and occasionally agitating and flipping the bag. I even spill less grain on the counter when scooping from the bag to fill jars.

Get some paint strainer bags, I doubt you'll go back to any kitchen strainer.

Those are great just to have for many purposes.  Coolers work great.  ziptie some mesh over the drain and they work great.  I havent been cooking wheat lately because of space to dry.  Milo soak overnight in cooler, drain, load

I would be worried personally with the grain Tek I use. I not only strain and shake my rye in these strainers but after doing this for 5-10 minutes they get spread thinly across a large towel so that more moisture can escape them. It’s a pain in the ass but I feel like my grains are at a more Im optimal moisture content.
