Hi everyone
As i am getting new into this hobby and had my first big Flush of Albino A+, i thought i give it a try and test them for their potency.
I live in a country, where we can test drugs legally and anonymously at an official department.
So I brought 1g of the fully dried mushrooms for testing last week. Today came the results.
1% Psilocin 0.2% Psilocybin
They state: 1% of Psilocin equals 1.4% of Psilocybin, which should give me an endresult of 1.6% psilocybin.
It's a bit surprising. I always thought, Psilocybin contents are normally higher in cubes than psilocin Is there any knowledge about that in here?
Nevertheless, i think it's a pretty decent potency for cubes

Cheers Contact

Psilocybin naturally degrades to psilocin (which oxidizes and degrades much easier than the former). Psilocin is actually the active one out of the two as well if I'm not mistaken. If you were to ingest only psilocybin, your body would degrade it to psilocin first. Something something lemon tek here probably.

^ what he said. psilocin isnt in mushrooms. psilocybin is converted into it when put in an acidic environment... aka lemon tek or stomach acids. so im kinda confused on what youre talking about

Nah psilocin is most definitely in shrooms. If it weren't you would never get to see the blue bruising which is the direct result of the psilocin getting oxidized. It's just all a big chain of compounds getting broken down into others
There is an enzyme that requires water that breaks down psilocybin into psilocin. Which is why badly dried mushrooms will lose their potency very quickly as well in general (I have a feeling this is partly incorrect, the whole process is probably much more complex)
Quote:
We report two enzymes from Psilocybe cubensis that carry out a two-step cascade to prepare psilocybin for oxidative oligomerization that leads to blue products. The phosphatase PsiP removes the 4-O-phosphate group to yield psilocin, while PsiL oxidizes its 4-hydroxy group.
(source)
I'll have to do more reading on it when I feel like it, there's a lot to take in
Edit: From the source it looks like psilocybin is actually what degrades to the bluing compound, which would explain why some (a lot of) potent ass boomers don't turn blue that much. My mistake on that one

I do know the difference of Psilocin and Psilocybin and that the body breaks the latter down to Psilocin while digesting.
I was just confused, as from my understanding, normally the higher amount of psilocybin is present. The difference in this result was just surprising, thats why i shared it and seeked out for some wisdom
If i read your text correctly, the psilocybin is processed to psilocin in the process of harvesting and stressing the fruit. this is showed through blueing, correct?
That would also explain why in my sample, which has been perfectly dried, the psilocin content is so high and the psilocybin content almost gone.
Am i getting this right? 🤔

Not sure if it's transformed from stressing, I'll have to get to reading the entire thing more in depth
As for psilocybin vs psilocin content I'd say it's mostly genetics (more or less of the enzyme converting it) or specific conditions activating those same enzymes, but at the end it boils down to the same thing: psilocin in your stomach
The bruising is definitely caused by stress/injury though (degradation of the compound through oxidation or w/e other means)
