Hello shroomery,


this is for all you mathematics fans out there :eek:

Whilst working out how much longer I can feasibly keep using pre-sterilised grain spawn bags and substrate, I've been struggling with the rye water retention calculations.

I've established my water retention aim of 73% with the rye berries but am having trouble figuring out specifically the dry weight reduced from the 2x 500g bags of the pre sterilised spawn bags,



here are some numbers for you to have a look at:


Are the millet calculations even accurate?:eek::eek:

All I see is I'm rich European with grain prices. White millet holds 37% more water weight wet, rye seed is 55% heavier.  What are you trying to do here. The no simmer nonsoak teks.

I don't think water retention is really important there, you'll have the water from the coir. See dry grain more as raw nutrients weight, it doesn't matter if it's swollen or not, the contents won't really change.

That is some fucking OCD/ADHD dedication though, I can admire that (I run a fuckton of excel tables too, one for all my cultures with noted feedback from friends and bioassayed estimated potency + tested, and every detail you can think of - source, shroomery user if it's sent by one, observed phenotypes and behaviour, etc).

Get the cheapest that you also enjoy preparing imo.

Also there's something odd about those prices, I can literally buy rye in europe for 0.40€ a kilogram in bulk (that's about the same in USD, should be somewhere around 0.7 or 0.8 AUD). Look better
