nom nom nom they ready

When the caps open up and the top turns blue they're ready. Swab them bad larrys and go on n get you a dose  and make sure to grab and run a clone from a nice dense cluster then re-run it! Easy duzzit to, I'd put those suckers up again PE any day...goddamn I'm so jealous you've got some ghosts and I dont

Awesome LAGM journal mycosispeon, I knew you were just a couple tips and tricks away from great things!

Let me know when you get some swabs!..... :begger:

Awesome, though it kinda sucks that they're all over the place in terms of readiness

Jealous my ass, I know you got that secret stash of spores :awesomenod: And if not, I got you. Sterile swabs came the other day, so I'm ready to swab away.

:thanx:

One thing I found really interesting in this run was that though all four of my tubs of Ghost were spawned at the same time, the two that I did at a lower spawn:sub ratio (1:5) are at least a week ahead of the two I did at the higher ratio (1:6). I guess that makes sense though. My assumption is that mycelium stays in a state of vegetative growth until it reaches capacity (full colonization of the available substrate). It's not until it reaches this point that it crests the top layer and begins to transition into the growth stage where cell division and hence fruiting occurs.

That'll happen when you run from spores, especially in shoeboxes where the conditions can change so quickly and frequently throughout the day/night. Take a few clones, run them individually and you'll start getting more even flushes. The more you clone/swab/run the same culture over and over you'll inherently begin to develop cultures that thrive in your specific conditions. As you get dialed in so will your culture and you'll be working together in beautiful psychedelic harmony :mushroom2:

That's one of my favorite parts about trading genetics with people. What works 'ok' in my specific conditions might be a banger in yours (TAT, for example), or my heater culture that cranks out ounces like it's nothin' might struggle in your area. You're not only developing a culture that pins/flushes evenly, good potency, etc. you're creating your own culture, and I think that's pretty neat

Secret stash of spores does nobody any good when you're packed up and shut down lol. I wasn't blowin smoke up your skirt about jealousy. Ghost is my favorite cube..any time I don't have a tub of it going I wish I did lol.

Awesome job my friend, I'm glad you saw it through and I'm glad I got to witness it  Keep up the good work

Yeah it's interesting to watch that happen. Fungus is certainly a methodical, opportunistic organism. If you run PE with the 'pseudo casing' TEK you can watch it colonize the main ~1:6 substrate in its' entirety before expanding itself to the ~2" thick top layer. Then, once the top layer is colonized it'll contract the whole substrate while using up the available water for a pinset and eventual flush.

And, just to further blow your mind, mushrooms don't actually undergo cellular division. A knot/primordia/pin already has all the cells of a full grown fruit. They simply pump water into the existing cells to expand them, which is why compared to most plants they grow sooooo fast. Pretty neat

Definitely, lots to love about this hobby.

Oh really? I thought I read that in Stamets' "The Mushroom Cultivator" a while ago.

Second flush of TAT only producing 4 total fruits, but...

Holy. Fucking. Shit. That biggun is about 5.5" tall, and has a 4.5" dia. cap with a 2.5" wide stipe. I can't wait to get it out and weigh it, but I'm waiting until tomorrow.

Sadly, I really had no interest in propagating this variety.

That sounds like fun. Can i still sign up?

Heres my go

Species to cultivate this year (some but not all).

Albino A+
Tidal Wave
Bluey Vuitton
Hillbilly
APE-R
Yeti
Moby Dick

All started within the last days except Moby Dick and AA+

Update 27.05.2024

Put the Moby Dick and AA+ petri dishes to grain. 4 grain jars with 600g grain each. Half a dish for each jar. AA+ on 5 jars, 300g  each, 1/3 dish per Jar.

Update 09.06.2024

Reducing the participation to Albino A+, Yeti, Moby Dick, Tidal Wave and Bluey Vuitton, as i don't have enough space, time, tubs or jars. Will probably be finished in december with these 😂

Did the B&S yesterday on all 4 Moby Dick jars. Sadly didnt take a picture but its growing very healthy on my rye spawn. Same for 5 jars of AA+

Yeti is actually ready for spawn, but i need to postpone it for another 1-2 months, until moby dick and AA+ are in Bulk.

Bluey Vuitton and Tidal wave need another transfer i think until healthy. But thats ok, i need more time anyway.

Update 16.06.2024

5 jars of AA+ were ready and i sent them to bulk. Moby Dick aren't ready. The small 1/2 quart jars colonized much faster after B2S, so i think i'll stick with the small jars for spawn.

Ratio of the bulk is 1:1, 1.2kg of spawn and of coco coir only (never tried with vermiculite, might try with the next bulk

I think i made way too much spawn, might throw some of it away sadly (2,4 kg moby dick, 2,1kg of AA+). Next time, i should plan ahead and make less.

Sent The Yeti to grain. Tried a little experiment. Both, T1 and T2 (coming from swab) were super clean growth. So i made 2 jars with a T1 plate and 2 jars from T2 plate to compare, if they behave differently.
