Why do trips vary so much?

I was just pondering the idea of upon taking mushrooms even from the same flush, what reason is it that makes the trip vary one to the next? I do notice sometimes similar elements but I also notice times it’s just such a different experience than others and I get that this is what keeps tripping interesting but what is the actual reasoning that psilocin psychologically creates such varying states whereas ingesting something like alcohol or marijuana for the most part gets you to the same place every time?

I have tripped hundreds of times and couldn't tell you other than every day is different than the last and what intentions you set and who you are with and what you are doing play a big role in what will happen.
I recently starting tripping with my girl for the first time and I feel like I'm reliving nostalgic memories and getting closer to her all at the same time. I have been solo for the past 4 years so my entire journey has changed for me personally.

Basically, the effects of the drug are pretty much the same every time, but how you react to it is different based on your life experience/the setting/your mood/what you’ve eaten/state of your relationships/your health and more. And how you react to the drug is what you call your trip.
Psychedelics amplify and distort.

Same deal with dreaming.
Trips work similarly.

If that same flush is from ms as opposed to a clone then that is also a factor

My last few trips have actually all been quite similar, not in terms of what i saw, but certainly what I've experienced.
Got a tonne of painful things I'm working through in my life, big things. I find I don't cry when I'm sober, so when I'm tripping I let the big agenda items come to me and it often ends in tears, lots of tears. Although in a healthy, release and 'you can let it go now' kind of way.
I also find tripping quite scary, or at least the prospect of it, certainly the dissolution of the ego, that bastard holds on real tight! I'm experienced enough now to recognise when I'm involuntarily fighting things and often counter this by telling myself calmly 'just just go', it becomes a mantra and soon after i can progress.
I see tripping like taking a boat somewhere, you might roughly know where you aim to be, but, you can never know the exact route you'll take. Perhaps 'just let go' is akin to not fighting the current of the river, rather embracing it and letting it take you where you need to be?

Good insights, thanks. Also I’m just noticing I misspelled my name back when I made this haha. I can’t remember if the proper spelling didn’t work or what. Anyway I don’t want to pay for a name change.

Set and setting plays a big part on trips as well
