My lemon-lime fruit...
    #2870735 - 07/09/04 12:18 AM (12 years, 4 months ago)

I recently got a lemon-lime fruit, for $500. If I planted the seeds, would they grow a lemon-lime bush? Or just either a lemon or lime?

well, planting a lemmon or lime tree [like most fruit trees] from seed is more likely than not going to get you a tree producing inedible or barely edible fruit, so i would think it would likely be a bust eather way.

i dont get it , now there is maaaaaaany years since the first hybrid among fruit came, and lemon and lime has been mixed before. if you paid 500 dollar for a _fruit_ then ***** **** ******* * ****** (cencored). now if you have a seed to a hybrid it will grow the hybrid. now a seed is next generation to a plant, a clone is same plant (basic learning) . so its the next generation after that fruit of yours.

Most fruit trees are grown as grafts on a root stock, either a dwarfing, tall, stunting etc.. stocks. The fruit trees own roots don't allow it to do so well that's why all apple trees, pears, and other fruits are grown this way.

Growing from seed will eventually give you some poor results unless you bud it onto a root stock.

yeah, there's also the open polination isse. with most fruit trees, you will need closed pollination to obtain predictable results.

Yes, the flowers must be emasculated and pollinated by hand.
