    #2870322 - 07/08/04 10:34 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

Hi everybody. Going to start my first attmpt tommorrow and have a slight problem, my pressure cooker only goes up to 10 lbs. Anyone have an opinion on how long I should cook at 10 lbs?

In case it matters at all, heres the model:

most of pressure cookers that are non-adjustable operate at 10-15 PSI

I used to have one very similar to that , i wore it out in double quick time , but it did the job fine. 10lbs will be fine if you extend the cooking time accordingly , just make sure you have enough water in it to cover the longer cooking time.... don't let it run dry, and keep the seals in good shape.

I used to have a 10psi model with a weight i just balanced a table spoon on it to bring the pressure up

I agree. but I'm sure there's still a safety margin built into them.
It would probably just blow the safety seal, before it hurt anyone. But still, I wouldn't be raising the pressure past the recommended.
