Combining multi-spore innoculations?
    #2870046 - 07/08/04 09:28 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Hi all,
A gnome friend has asked me to forward this message for him.

He has two almost fully colonized multi-spore PF type cakes, he would like to know if combining them into a single substrate and then casing would be a good idea? could this positively influence yields if done correctly or would two smaller casings be just as sufficient.

the only reason if could think of not to do so would be if one jar or the other was contaminated in the mean-time or if some ones sterile technique wasn't up to scratch?

thanks for your help.

This is prob the best reason not too.

Also, if i'm correct, multispore innoc leads to multiple sub-strains that will compete for nutrition. a fully colonized jar usually has a dominant strain.  It is very likely that your two jars are not simmilar sub strain and may end up competeing which may cause delay or smaller fruits.  Although i'm sure it has been done before.

but yeah the first reason is the best reason not to.
