Rhode Island Laetiporus "Sulph. or Cincinn."
    #2869716 - 07/08/04 07:46 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Hi I found this  Laetiporus Sulphureus or  Laetiporus Cincinnatus today while driving the back roads of my home state..
It appears to be faded and the gills are white... as opposed to yellow. It was also fruiting from oak root system.. So I believe, "if your into splitting species",, that it is L. Cincinnatus.... I have the haul in some salty water right now and am about to go saute it up.... My first meal of this species... I'll post back and let you all know how it digested...Not nearly as beautiful of the one I found last year, "third and forth picture respectively"...

Things are picking up...  :smile:Peace Nofindum....

If anyone is interested The meal was good..
Not as tender as I had hoped.. But the taste was
very pleasant.. I think I'll make some soup next...

Nofindum....

hehe

nice find, I have a spot I'm waiting on to produce some of those(the sulphureus/gilbertsonii/conifericola). tried em once last year, results were inconclusive(not bad, not too good), but I think I'll give em another try if I find some nice fresh ones again.

DH
