Daylight savings time. Love it or hate it?

Seems like we could be nearing the end of it on the west coast. California making moves to go permanent time, BC will follow suit. I like it lighter in the mornings so I am all for this.

I think it should be a nationwide thing or don't change it

I like it being light later in the day this time of year. Can get outside and enjoy the weather while it's starting to get nice later at night. No mosquitos or black flies yet.

I think the system is pretty bogus. If you're going to fuck around with things to give people more time for outdoor activities at the end of the day, make sunrise a standard 6 am. The sudden shift is totally unnecessary

It would be good if they would end it. It just seems unnecessary. If they want people to wake up and go to school/work earlier or later, just tell them that, instead of making everybody change their clocks.

Yeah and the original rationale no longer makes sense anyway. More hours at the end of the day may mean less energy used on lighting, but that isn't significant any more because lighting is so much more efficient now. And air conditioning use is probably greater if anything

I like the roll back part of it. We always take advantage of the extra hour of sleep. Flip side is we usually suffer with spring forward, though this year didn’t seem to be that difficult. I’d rather not screw with the clock and just let things be as they are.
Californians I believe voted to get rid of it, or at least to put getting rid of it on an official ballot. That was years ago now.

I agree. I don’t like that it changes. It messes me up every year. Not for long. But it’s just superfluous. It really doesn’t seem to make my life better.

I once walked into a class thinking I was nicely early, but was almost exactly an hour late, and the embarrassment almost killed me on the spot. Therefore, fuck the time change. Also, it should be illegal to be forced to wake up before the sun rises. It's inhumane gat dammit. Some saps will tell you how nice it is to have daylight later, but they forget that the damn days get longer no matter what in the summer, til its still bright out at 9pm, which is also unnatural. Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so.

Yeah that's kind of the stupidest part. You "save" daylight when you have the most of it already

I swear on all things holy I will never get a job again that I have to get up at like 3am and then work 12.5 hours. Not for any amount of money. That schedule is NOT humane. You do NOT "get used" to it. Fuck any corps. that force that schedule

I dont care what part of it they lock in. But probably the spring forward part is best. Seems to give sunlight as late as possible.
Also agreed there should be no work before the sun rises, also no one should work more than 4 days a week. 3 is ideal.

Yeah that never works out well for anyone. 8-9 hrs is plenty enough.
