i'm getting these from nugs.net
you have to download bittorrent or something but you can do that with mac..there is a windows or mac option.
but if you want grateful dead, i would go to what pillow recommended cause they probably have a hell of a lot more then nugs.net cause right now there is only like 5 dead shows for dl.

Are you running OS X or OS 9?
If 9 on an older Mac you'll have problems. I don't think anybody has ported the audio conversion apps to that OS. And unfortunately, they probably never will....
archive.org has some shows in mp3 format though., which OS 9 is capable of handling. Just don't download mp3 shows, burn them, and then start trading/circulating them without telling people they are mp3 shows. :-) The hardcore audiophiles don't like that.

oh yeah... my currently downloading show is the dead at red rocks 2004-6-19, friday night.
EDIT: FurthurNet is a good program, but recently it's been acting flaky for me while connecting. My new best friend is BitTorrent. I highly recommend checking out bt.etree.org

When i save them they are saved as quicktime movie files and if i shut down iTunes i cant play them again...what am i doing wrong?

wow i did the same thing man
it took me forever to figure it out but here it is
what you gotta do is when you you download them dont click them
click and hold on the link for a few seconds
then a scroll will come up
choose download link to disk
then you have a nice mp3
