How recommended is vermiculite if you are using horse manure to coco coir at a 1:1 ratio?

I've heard the texture can get kind of muddy with poo (notably cow manure). How much of an issue is this with horse manure? Is the coir alone enough to prevent issues and keep a good consistency or should I still add a certain amount of vermiculite to it?

Horse poo is all straw and grass, it doesn't become muddy.

Have wondered as well, if there's a good substitute for hpoo for pancyan sub? I've been looking for some hpoo but it's hard to come by in our area unlike cowmanure.

I grew these TTBVI Pan Cyan with 50/50 Black Cow (Home Depot) composted manure and coco.
As for Verm I only ever use it if I mix my coir too wet. but it won't hurt to use it.

such dense TTBVI canopies. Your also using baba-yaga's Liquid manure pasturization for cow manure?
Thanks for the heads up, I'm gonna venturing on pancyan soon, gonna dig up some more info.

No I don't use the Liquid Manure method. I use @RoscoReturns Small batch Dehydrator TEK for my manure. I just sift the big stuff out and into baggies then into the dehydrator for 4 hours at 160F.

I also cased with Peat/Verm/Lime at full colonization.

Bookmarked I appreciate the Tek link. I Was checking on your grow log, I'm pumped up & motivated, nice fruits for the 1st attempt. and grown on shoeboxes aswell which I prefer having plenty of those at hand.
I also noticed that pans really requires casing unlike cubes(I been using very thin layer of pure coir+lime casing for cubes) since verm is scarse in our area, guess I'm gonna need to find an alternative.
Again, Thanks for chiming in.

Check out the main Pan thread. Many are using cactus soil as casing as well.

Its all about the amount of water used. Horse manure ive used has never been muddy at field capacity.
