I'm a little upset that this scumbag isn't in jail. If it were the average Joe, they would still be in jail awaiting trial i'd suppose. I hope this sends a message to other CEO's and makes them think once or twice about cooking the books. He will be used as an example and that's the way it should be.

it's not wierd, it's glaringly indicative of the types
of people that bush and cheney covort with, and
in turn, the type of people they are.

mind you, lay was also one of the key advisors in
cheney's secret energy commitee meetings, helping
plan america's energy strategy for the brave new
world.

schwarzenegger's also in bed with this guy, which
might explain why he's trying or has successfully
written off the paybacks californians we're supposed
to receive for being overcharged and defrauded by
those fucks.

He wasn't even the Governor when this all came down.

no, but he's the governor now and there is a
bill that was or is working it's way through the
california legislature that would hold enron and
the rest of those crooks accountable for their
overages.

unfortunately, arnold, who's got close ties with
these clowns, has or is trying to kill it.

let me dredge for a bit....see what I can find.

You know, my recollection may not be perfect about the Enron stuff but I seem to recall that the big scumbags in the deal were Fastow and Skilling, and that Lay was kind of guilty of stupidity in not being aware of the various schemes these guys concocted. Should be an interesting trial. Let us not forget that their crimes, and the crimes of most of these guys, were committed when Clinton was president and paying no attention to anything other than his hummers and are being prosecuted when Bush is president. Why do you even mention that they contributed alot of money to the Texas governor when he has certainly not shown any favoritism and they were a huge Texas company. I also don't understand why you would think that one of the nation's largest energy companies shouldn't be consulted on energy policy. Who should they talk to, you?

As far as California goes, the price manipulation should be prosecuted as fraud and they should be able to recover some damages from Enron, as should everyone else who was defrauded by their fraudulent accounting. Get in line and welcome to the wonderful world of bankruptcy. I bet a dime on the dollar would look pretty good right now. Don't forget, their biggest crime was not ripping off California but the stock frauds they are mostly being prosecuted for. The retarded Democrat administration of Gray Davis signed the fucking contracts that alowed Californians to get hosed in the first place. When are they going on trial for criminal stupidity? They were so stupid that they got replaced by a Jesse Ventura wannabe

Just weird cause, well, this:

Bush himself received $1.5m from 55 grandfathered companies, led by Enron, with a handsome $348,500 top-up from the man he calls Kenny Boy - Kenneth Lay, the company's chief executive, currently under criminal investigation ~ Ed Vulliamy, Observer

I guess its just kinda ironic how Bush proclaims the evils of corporate scandal, but there's a good pretty good possibility that he recieved some campaign funding as a direct result of a pretty large corporate scandal. Oh, not just some, but the largest contribution from an individual donor.
