New Grower who needed to leave these guys for 5 days

Using an unmodified monotub. I heavily misted the medium before leaving on an unexpected 5 day trip and came home to see this. I had the lid upside down and about 65RH inside the TENT and 72F
1. Is the large fella with dark "mold" on him really mold? 2. Are the big ones okay to harvest? 3. I wonder why the large grouping happened in the corner - it's close to the heater - makes me think they wanted heat. 4. I gave a nice heavy mist and avoided pooling water on the surface. Any other steps I can take to get this substrate looking good again aside from misting and fanning?
Thanks!

1. Is the large fella with dark "mold" on him really mold?
Potentially-- but if you're really curious you should have fun and put some of it on agar! Obviously making sure to practice clean technique as to not cross contaminate it. I would also recommend storing non mycology plates away from your grows for again--- the same reason you don't put exposed raw meat with fruits/vegetables in the fridge.
2. Are the big ones okay to harvest?
Definitely; I would honestly eat that one with the "stuff" on it as well. Perhaps that makes me foolish but I would just cut off the nasty bit and inspect the mushroom to make sure it's not grown throughout it before dehydrating & storing.
3. I wonder why the large grouping happened in the corner - it's close to the heater - makes me think they wanted heat.
You're on the right track with the heater theory! It's more so the air current itself caused by the heater as mushrooms are signaled to grow from the evaporation of water via air. Think-- it just rained and the everything is wet; now the wind comes-- the perfect opportunity to rise and spread spore. This is the idea behind SGFC's. From this we can surmise the tub was getting uneven FAE.
4. I gave a nice heavy mist and avoided pooling water on the surface. Any other steps I can take to get this substrate looking good again aside from misting and fanning?
After your first flush you may want to do some side watering to rehydrate it a bit; being careful not to poor water on the top-- but down underneath it through the side.(TidBits) Mushrooms breathe just like us! Except they're more like Earthworms in how they respire across their total surface area rather than a singular orifice.C6H12O6(aq) + 6O2(g) = 6CO2(g) + 6H2O(g)
- That's sugar and air to make carbon dioxide and water.
- Ever notice how the sides of your tub get all humid lookin?
- That's because the warmer water exhaled by the mushrooms is in gas form then it condenses upon contact with the colder tub. Not just our misting!
P.S. Mushrooms can actually catapult their spores in a vacuum via this little technique.
