Agar Petri dish prep

I’m wondering if anyone has experience/feedback on prepping agar dishes and then sterilizing in PC.
In the past, I’ve always sterilized my agar medium and then poured into sterile plastic and/or glass dishes, cool, and then streak with spores. I’m curious to eliminate an exposure step (pouring) by pouring medium in glass dishes, stack on trivet, PC, let cool. I figure the only exposure would be when i open to streak, cutting down risk of contamination. I always wrap with parafilm after.
Any experience or thoughts?

It sounds like you want to use glass petri dishes for a no-pour TEK. That would absolutely work in theory, although you may have issues of the agar boiling over the sides of the dishes.
But most people that use glass petri dishes still pour their dishes in a SAB or in front of a flow hood.

I also use glass petris no-pour. I've never had a boilover. It's a myth to scare people away from the better method.

I stand corrected!

Idk man, just reporting my experiences. Maybe someone out there gets boilovers every time. I'm sure you could make it happen by opening the PC under pressure or running it dry.

Nah, I've never used glass petri dishes so I'm only speaking based off what I've heard. I'll trust your first-hand experiences.
I just assumed with such a shallow dish, you'd be sure to get something boiling over the sides, but apparently not.

I just got some glass for no pour. I did a batch of agar and didn't have any problem. @somekid604 I read through this the other day due to it being suggested. Had some neat ideas https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/28006384/fpart/1/vc/1

When using glass petri for no-pour, it's good to have taller dishes with height 20+ mm.
To pour a thin dish, you'll need around 15-20ml per dish, so using something to properly measure would help.
