Levitation

If levitation were possible, do you think it would it be easier to go about somewhere where there is less gravity such as the moon, or would that make it harder because you are further away from the life energy of earth?
Can anyone conceive of how levitation might be possible?

Seeing as how the moon has no atmosphere and that was a bad analogy, I guess I will just ask..does anyone have any experiences/thoughts to share about why you think it might be possible/impossible?

Simple... apply a force equal the force of gravity acting upon an object, but in the opposite direction.

I saw David Blaine street-magician levitate himself once. He went about a few inches off the street where he was street-magicianing. Then he came back down and he went "how about that, what do you think?" and I ran away so fast.
Actually I only watched it on teevee.

electromagnetism is more powerful than gravity. You just need to come up with some kinda sweet machine, and.. I don't know..

It was fake, but not trick shoes. It is actually a fairly old illusion, he just has a nice presentation for it.

Not that I was expecting many people to have much experience with this, I was thinking more along the lines of achieving levitation either through meditation and/or spontaniously one way or another while not including the use of any machines or tricks.
http://www.themystica.com/mystica/articles/l/levitation.html "Levitation is a phenomenon of psychokinesis (PK) in which objects, people, and animals are lifted into the air without any visibly physical means and float or fly about. The phenomenon has been said to have occurred in mediumship, shamanism, trances, mystical rapture, and demonic possession. Some cases of levitation appear to be spontaneous, while spiritual or magical adepts are said to be able to control it consciously."
I am not trying to imply I believe this stuff is for real, but I did think it might be interesting to see if anyone else might have felt they had experienced something like this before.

Hell yeah it's possible. Jesus Christ could levitate. He controlled Chi and could do that, not cause he is god's son but cause he was a master. Also David Blaine probably uses the same power in order to levitate (which it is real!). David Blaine isn't the son of god either but he has control over chi (the force).

Yeah, David Blaines isn't a shoe trick, that's one of the oldest tricks there are, you just put yourself at such an angle for the audiance that they can only fully see one foot, you lift the foot they can see up in the air and stand on the toes of the other foot(because if you are at the right angle, they would still be able to see your heel). As far as him levitating on his DVD, he records the reactions from him 'levitating' as described above, but shows his feet coming off the ground with wires. It's a post-production edit.

"Jesus Christ could levitate. He controlled Chi"
I dont think Jesus would have been familiar with this philosophy as it is far eastern in origin. Besides, all we have are legends and myths of Jesus...we don't really know what he was or who he was or if he existed.
"David Blaine probably uses the same power in order to levitate (which it is real!)"
That is fantasy bullshit...provide proof.

Have you seen that eastern practice of meditating while bouncing up and down with your legs crossed? They say that sometimes they can stay in the air for minutes at a time and when enlightenment is achieved you will never come back down. However, to the observer they are just jumping up and down. Its interesting

I have practiced meditation for years and that is blatent bullshit.
"They say that sometimes they can stay in the air for minutes at a time"
"They" say a lot of things that aren't true.

You must have missed the part where i said that to the observer, they are just jumping up and down, therefore implying that their state of meditation allows them to achieve the sensation of levitating for extended periods of time when in reality, they are only in the air for seconds.

Then that is pretty useless. I think this "eastern" practice was invented by the Maharishi for TM in order to make big bucks. Sorry for the lack of detailed attention I paid your post...part of it didn't settle in at first.

You don't see the benefit of being able to make a few seconds feel like several minutes inside your head?
Doesn't sound useless to me.

Just an idea, but since the electron is an integral part of the atom which compromises all matter, would it be possible to unbalance a carbon disk for example by giving it more electrons and neutrons and keep the protons the same as the the earth? Would this cause it to suspend in air like a magnet floating between two other magnets? Since the atmosphere would be the conductor, the path of free electrons would pass threw this carbon disk and it might magnetize, but then it would try to stable itself out since it is positively charged compared to the earth. So if you attached electromagnets with an AC current on all sides of this disk that might change the path of electrons causing it to ride a electronic wave. These are just stoned ideas which come from staying up late listening to Frank zappa.
