My 1st monotub grow ever *Harvest*

My 1st attempt at growing mushrooms using a monotub kit & mss. These are golden teachers and 217g wet. Saw my first pins on feb 21st. I harvested the biggest ones today and tomorrow I will pull the rest off of the cake after they’ve matured for another 24 hours, pins & all. Thoughts on my grow ?

Great job. Now read the hitch hikers guide and move away from MSS and AIO to become self sustaining/replenishing.

Looks good fam, I second the guy above me. Moving away from spore syringes as an inoculant for grain is the next step.
Spores come in male/female components that form strains upon coupling. Present in a single spore print/syringe is potentially MILLIONS of possible couplings. Now you get to help spread some of the faster strains on agar before putting them to grain-- benefiting your grow times, yields, & even potency.
and once you get those sexy strains going; you'll start cloning the alpha mushrooms of the group then collecting their spores.
The cycle goes on.
You know, Wolves become Corgis or something.
Breed mushrooms.
Bigs up dude.
P.S. by strain I mean isolated dikaryotic mycelium, not some douche claiming his OG MudBone 420 Penis Envy is an uber dope strain.

Thanks for the recommendation, I’ll definitively give it a read!
By AIO, do you mean all in one bag ?

Thanks for the informative reply bro ! I plan on learning agar in the near future. Is using a liquid culture to inoculate grain better than spore to grain ? Or is it all a genetic gamble until I start my own selective breeding ?

The reason Spore to grain is bad is that spores are inherently dirty. The mushrooms don't grow in a sterile environment.
LC, when properly made (from clean agar cultures), makes for faster colonization times than inoculating with agar wedges. You have to be careful with LC though because you can also screw up a lot of grain fast with bad LC.
Bottom line. Long term everything revolves around Agar.
Learn to do this:

And you can get harvests like this

I’m definitely going to use LC for my next tub. In the meantime I’ll finish my 4 AIOs with mss. I bought 2 more GT, B+ & Tidal Wave. Also I’m going to research more into agar because that canopy in the pic you posted is insane!! What sub-strain were you growing ?

That one is TTBVI Pan Cyans. That tub was spawned from that plate.
The other 2 in my signature are P. Subtropicalis (Semps) All were grown from agar wedges but I do use LC as well.
oh and if you do plan to make LC, This is the ONLY method I would recommend.
