Yes, hopefully we as a community will try to ensure the future of these species/locales into the future. A lot of good genetics have been lost over the years and it's not always easy to find comparable replacements.

So I spawned a clone that made a nice cluster off my first MS ATL 7 grow.
It was a half gallon jar of ryberries and I think coconut core and no vermiculate I don't think.
On the third flush I put out these mini fruits I did get a print off of one of them I gifted to someone.
Not these ones pictured but some other ones fell over so I ended up chopping them up and putting them in my tea. I didn't steep them very long. I did get close by visuals and fell asleep it was nice. I was just two of these fruits.
Their thick all the way through.

The bottom of the tub was looking a little bacterial I noticed today so I decided to break it down.
These are the stones I bothered harvesting. There's a bunch left in the substrate. Kind of debating if I can pseudo pasteurize it and trigger pinning. Mimicking a forest fire or something right. Anyway I'm going to try.
Anyway now I'm sitting on 3/4 lb worth of wet scerotia. I'm debating if I should make tea out of it maybe freeze it. I have citric acid so I could reduce it some without it oxidizing I think.
Maybe make hot chocolate or something for a burn. It's about 17 20 g doses.

This is the biggest stone I pulled out of there.

And the whole lot.

Hey stone producers!
I'm sure this topic has been deliberated on before, but has any sort of consensus been reached as to whether it's better to grow sclerotia in bags vs. jars? What are the pros & cons of either option?

I tried bags a few times and didn't like them.
The grow above was started in a half gallon jar and spawn to bulk.
I have several other half gallon jars going and it's far more sclerotia than I plan to eat.
About to toss that 3/4 lb in coco-coir to see if they'll keep fruiting.

Spawning the grain to coir has been the highest yield in my experience. I like to let the grain sit for 2-3 months fully colonized before spawning for better yields

Interesting...would love to see a tek or grow log on this if there is one.
When spawning to coir, do you harvest the sclerotia that were formed in-vitro? Or do you spawn the entire contents of the jar, stones and all?
If the latter, does breaking up the mycelium disturb the growth of existing sclerotia or introduce contaminants?

Unfortunately the Tamps I had a go at in monos weren't fruiting for some reason but I have 7 Chicon Nindo cakes finishing up soon. My default to fruit these would be case and a baggy or pop bottle on top but I have enough to try something else so if there is a special way to make them grow pretty then I am eager to hear about it.

Thanks Rev, in that case I will fruit them in their individual small water tubs with baggy on top, worked well for a couple of pan novelty grows.

Been having some good times with the Tamp culture I have.
Managed to print. The caps were so small... 1cm across.

Someone mentioned never seeing fruiting of a stone... Well here is a pretty good example.
This is some grain (after stone harvest). You could say third flush. The stones appeared during the second flush.
Super grateful for the extra stones... More fruit

prbly a little late now but, from all the varying opinions/published data ive read through online, the tea freeze also sounds to be a pretty promising proper procedure in preservation . i dont have any first hand experience with stones or freezing tea... yet, but in your situation i probly do just that, except i would set a portion of them to the side to compare to how they are fresh and how they are dried/powdered.

One of these is stones that I chopped up from a jar, the other is 3/4 lb stones from a bulk grow that I just planted pretty much whole in coconut coir. No grains.
Little four cup trays, cased with 50/50 verm peat. They seem to really grow towards the light which is interesting.
And the fruits grow much slower, and are much thicker and the few slow growing thick fruits that I've eaten so far have been pretty potent in comparison to the small faster fruits.

Good going man I honestly donât know why more people donât plant stones because the fruits are easily four times as potent as the truffles are

Yeah, I got sick of stones pretty quick.
Now they're a means to make more fruits, which seems to be the same aim the mycelium has for them!
