As a matter of interest and for learning: would you take this plate to LC? I'm guessing your comment relates to how well and clean the plate has grown. Correct?

BTW, the little transfer cube has moved off of where it was placed because I flicked the daylights out of the plate. In a different post it was suggested to someone to flick the plate to see whether what they had turns green. The theory was that trich would drop spores causing the color change. I'm full-on here to learn, much more so than just to grow shrooms, so I try weird stuff like that when I read such comments. Needless to say, nothing went green

When you make your next transfer cut a really small wedge from the most uniform looking growth and only from the leading edge of growth.

No.

If it were me I'd pluck a piece of that sector at 7 o'clock with a pair of fine tweezers and transfer the smallest shred of that growth as you can muster. Also your plate has animal hair or fiber and other dust/debris on it. This is indicative of mistreatment in general and you need to refine your cleanliness to be able to preform sterile procedures properly. You are preforming neurosurgery on babies. They are strong babies that have the potential to live forever but babies none the less.

It all needs work but you are getting there and will be a wizard in no time. The sectoring is a good sign you will be able to get cohesive colonies out of that plate eventually and the strength of 7 o'clock there is promising.

Anyone wanna give some input on these? I have kept transferring to try to alter the growth presentation on agar and it's been consistent since t2. Looks like mold to me but grows the pace of myc, or even a bit slower. Country cock and phobos.

For comparison, a plate I'd consider healthy.

They all look "healthy" and axenic, but young and they don't know who they are yet. They don't have much life experience to draw from. Be patient, and show them you are being patient. They learn an immense amount and rapidly compared to us. Their genius and capability dwarves our own ability and understanding.

You can watch the areal mycelium in a dish vibrate from sonic energy from your voice under a microscope. They are very sensitive, have the ability to essentially live forever and grow to be massive diverse colonies. They are in no rush and those plates are baby godlike beings. It may take them time to figure it out just like the human race in the current world. Babies fighting amongst themselves, and also people trying to wait out that process. People with some magical memory of what happens next and why all this is worth it. People with a built in design for a healthy productive future and harmoniousness.

If you get bored of waiting for maturity to develop in potentially immortal children, you can make an lc, store it in a mature state in a vial in the fridge for a few years, then bring it out and plate it up. You'll see a break in the pattern and all sorts of new patterns may emerge and form cohesive sectors and patterns. They have time to get to know each other as lc. It is a good environment for them to come to terms and develop purpose.

But you can see the clamps practically from outer space.

Mold doesn't do that.

The search team term that you are looking for is Scalloped or scalloping. Stipe-n-cap has done some work but I don't think he has come up with any answer other than that they produce poorly if at all.

I just started a test to see if I can clean up a scalloped tampanensis culture that I want to preserve using a brf puck. But just started that a couple of days ago, so nothing to report yet.

Trying something else now. I have a tamanensis culture that I really want to preserve. They have proven tricky because the spore prints seem to be unrecoverable after about a year to 18 months for me with tamps. I did manage to get one of my old prints to germ, but several transfers in and I am still getting scalloping plates. I have seen a few theories on scalloped edges and enmeshed contam is a common one.

So lets see if using a puck will help.

1469 was the successful germ, 1507 is t1, 1538 & 1537 are t2, 1593 & 1592 are t3.

I took two transfers from 1592 to the top two pucks and 2 more to plates to see how things progress. I followed a suggestion from Baba Yaga to place the puck samples on one side of the pucks and will transfer from the other side when the mycelium reaches that far. And hey, if the plates come out clean too, I won't even be mad.

Thanks rev! I’ve seen it but never to such a degree before. I do think they look beautiful, like flowers 😂 hopefully the brf works!  Already love brf pucks so much so that would be another great perk!

Hi

I'm back and I'm curious about a few things
These are all Pink Oyster

In the top middle there's these dots that are forming. Is that the mycelium coming together? It looks cool

Here's another example but directly in the middle there's a new dot forming

With this too I had squirted 3 drops of LC near the center of the plate but these dots had been popping up allover. Is it contam or just mycelium?

This one I had left in here a while after sectioning off some pieces
There's this discoloration popping up in some areas. I vaguely remember that Pink Oyster Mycelium can turn pinkish is that what this is? To the eye it does kind of look pinkish but that could just be my brain playing tricks on me

Either way nothing urgent (i hope) just curiosity

Thank you for your time
