noob looking for input, 1st attempt ever.
    #28676461 - 02/26/24 02:00 AM (10 months, 15 days ago)

Hi y'all, looking for some input on how things are going with the mushrooms.
I'm noob enough to know that I don't even know what kind of questions I should be asking, so I'll just link some images and you'll get to flame me, deal?

In all honesty, just looking for general feedback, tips/tricks, etc.
Strain: Golden Teacher.
Stalled jar, probably too little air left at the top. Bacilium started to form, such is life in the zone.

Now on to the interesting stuff.

I got a shoebox, two monotubs and a huge unmodified monotub going, and lots of jars (G2G) that has been successful afaik.
The shoebox proved too small for GT. They went from micropenis to horsecocck over night, so I put the shoebox on another box with yet another box over it, with a small gap for air to flow in and such.

Now on to the monotub.
I realised the spawn:substrate ratio was wack when i was sorting it, sterile as hell and had no time to make more, so I just went with what I had. Looks pretty okay to me, unless I'm missing obvious contamination.. I have been a bit worried about the white fluff at the stem of my precious fruits.

Last, but not least, the other monotubs, recently spawned (2 days ago). Ignore the blueness, its just the flash from the camera. They practically look the same, but differ in size.
First, the modified monotub (I know it's not level, but I did my calculations and man, am I bad at math?)

Second, the unmodified monotub:

Alien looking stuff, heebie-jeebies..

Anywho, any thoughts, criticisms, smart-thunks or dumb-thonks are more than welcome.

Thanks in advance.
Kind regards.

You’re looking fine man, can’t really see what your setup is, is that tape on one of the tubs? And there’s no myc in the jars but you’ve got fruit 👍 so you’re winning the noob stakes, maybe just get your substrate more level and smooth for consistency sake but that’s all I can see:shrug:
Well done!

Thanks for the response!

Perhaps I was a bit tardy, the jars I showed images of were ones that had stalled, most likely due to not enough oxygen/GE -> wet spots -> bacilium.
I actually started off by going spore syringe -> brown rice (not flour, boiled brown rice), and it worked fine. WBS however, no luck.

And yes, there's tape on the modified tubs, the shoebox one has holes beneath the substrate (), but seems to be growing, so yay?

I was wondering mainly about the white fuzz at the bottom of the stems. I read that white spots occur when you overmist, or droplets form on top of the fruit, is that correct?

Thanks again, and if you want any clarification picture wise, ask and I'll provide!

Alright, so I harvested some of them who had their veil released. Picked them like normal mushrooms, grabbing the stem and twisting. Once again, these fluffy... whatevers almost always came off together with the stem. What is it?
Anywho, looking for any tips/tricks/advice I can get. Images below. Much love.

What's up with the fuzzy feet?!

Right time to pick it, right? Or too late?

The fluffy bits at the base is just mycelium. its perfectly fine and safe.

In your first picture I would normally take a sharp knife or blade and cut the parts of the substrate off to make the shrooms clean before dehydrating. Some people dehydrate and then brush off after.it doesn't matter either way.

The second picture shows just about the right time to harvest, no spore drop and look nice, easier to store once dried as no large caps to break off etc. But again this is personal preference. if you leave them longer they will get bigger but you don't gain much if anything from it (active wise).

Of course if you want to take spore prints then you need to let the caps open first.

Exactly what I've been pondering about, thank you for confirming my doubts!
This harvest was from a shitty "yolo"-shoebox, still got several fully colonized jars and a few monotubs with enough substrate and room to grow bigger and healthier shrooms.
This is from spore syringe -> steamed sterilized boiled brown rice -> coir and vermiculite.
The monotubs are from clean myc -> pressure cooked whole oats -> CVG.
I've cut off the feet, and at first i thought it was mold, but since the feet went from stem-color to green-ish, to purple and finally almost black (over a minute or so, exposed to air), I'm fairly sure it's just the psilocybin.
Currently drying them at 55ºC for 24 hours, to later store in vacuum sealed, black glass jars /w silica pack and oxygen absorber pack in them.

So.. woo!

is that the highest your dehydrator goes?

whack it up to 70c if it goes that high.
