Late colonization
    #28675624 - 02/25/24 03:15 PM (10 months, 16 days ago)

Went from spawn to bulk 16 days ago now. 2 quarts spawn to 8 quarts substrate (coir/verm). Using the ezdialed tubs with about a 3/4" pseudocasing layer as dzscribed by p9. Imo it took quite long to see any progress in my tub, pictures are from day 14-16 respectively. Does this look like mycelium or something like Trich?

Looks like myc but also looks like your sub is dry, unless it’s the lighting? maybe give it a mist.
Pics aren’t very clear though.

It definitely looks like Mycelium, but I'm not too surprised by the speed of growth. I do a 1:2 spawn Ratio. So in 66qt tubs I use 5 quarts spawn to 10 quarts Substrate material. There's simply not as much Mycelium in 2 quarts of spawn to colonize 8 quarts of substrate, I feel like the speed is appropriately scaled down though compared to a 1:2 Ratio.

I also do agree that the surface conditions look on the drier side. How did you prepare your Substrate? Would help to know how much water you used to hydrate the Substrate.

It looks dry despite the condensation on sides of tub.

1:4 ratio will slow colonization time.

Did you go straight to fruiting conditions? (unBODified monotub tek)

Can confirm sub is not dry but is due to lighting. A little more than 3L of boiling water was added to a 650g coir block + 2L of verm, and the field capacity was tested.

Little correction, added 3 (not 2) mycoquarts of spawn to 8 quarts of sub + 4 quarts of pseudocasing.

Also using the EZdialed tub setup by Pasty.

If I'm understanding correctly ,that's closer to a 1:4.6 Ratio if we factor in the 2L Verm & casing. So understandable the colonization would be slowed especially if the genetics aren't vigorous.

What do you mean pseudo casing tho?

Pseudocasing as written by p9

Total ratio is 3:12 (or 1:4) if you include the casing, 3:8 without casing.

Below are two updated pictures from yesterday and today day (17-18). Still looks rather sus in my opinion but no discoloration (yet).

The growth seems really good.

Nor does it look like the white hunks of Trich before it greens.

I think you're good.

Day 19-20 updates. Starting to believe a bit more again haha. Still no discoloration, small water beads all on top of the mycelium.
