I believe...

... that I'll have another beer.

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

On second thought (ah, second beer), here's a interesting quote about belief...

"Don't believe anything. Regard things on a scale of probabilities. The things that seem most absurd, put under 'Low Probability', and the things that seem most plausible, you put under 'High Probability'. Never believe anything. Once you believe anything, you stop thinking about it. The more things you believe, the less mental activity. If you believe something, and have an opinion on every subject, then your brain activity stops entirely, which is clinically considered a sign of death, nowadays in medical practice. So put things on a scale or probability, and never believe or disbelieve anything entirely."
- Robert Anton Wilson

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

I think it's okay to believe in things. Just don't shut down the possibility that what you believe in might be wrong. That's when the door to learning closes, and you become a closed-minded anal something or another.

Actually, I think the quote you cited explained it perfectly, Evolving.

Try Fat Tire Ale (no, not Spare Tire). It is my new favorite boutique beer by a mudslide.

My dad is partial to Moosehead.

Myself, I don't drink beer. If I am going to drink, I just pull out the big ass bottle of Linie Aquavit and drink like a fucking Viking.

Ever hear the tale of the young Viking who got too drunk on a ship going from Norway to Denmark and back, because of the damned tax-free shop, and missed an oppurtunity to venture out on Denmark because he stayed in bed on the ship, hungover? It is a disappointing tale.

Alcohol.... is not my thing.  :smirk:

Sorry Ed, I don't recall seeing that post.  But all I have to say is... if more than one man can believe in an amorphous being with the manners of a spoiled child, I suppose more than one man can believe in the golden nectar.  Here's to you

Not if you're a gay moose, the antlers get in the way and are known to hurt.
