Delayed pinning issue.
    #28666609 - 02/19/24 09:28 AM (4 months, 4 days ago)

My lions mane and blue oysters have both been having instances of not pinning on schedule. Some will but some won’t. The ones that are late still pin well but I don’t understand why they are taking longer. Any ideas?

Temperatures play a big part. The colder it is the slower they’ll move and the warmer it is the faster they’ll move. If you want consistent harvests you’ll have to try and keep them temps consistent throughout the growing process.

Contams can also cause them to move slowly. Are those metabolites in the bottoms of the bags in the middle row or just myc that got damaged while fruiting and lost the whiteness?

I see. Yes, almost all the bags (blue oysters) that I inoculate end up with metabolite build up, most fruit super nice and no issues though, even with the metabolite. No clear contam that I can see on the bags though.

Probably just a bit bacterial. Make sure you’re sterilizing your grains and substrate bags sufficiently.
