Has anyone ever tried using a porous tape for FAE?
    #28673453 - 02/23/24 10:50 PM (10 months, 17 days ago)

I’m sure you’re all extremely annoyed with the mess that it is polyfill. I’ve been looking into other methods so I don’t have to deal with it anymore. Some people have drilled 1/4 inch holes with no covering for FAE, but that increases contamination rates, and some people have had bug problems because of it. I know micropore tape is for GE not FAE, but do you think there is a tape out there that is more porous than micropore tape, thus allowing for FAE, and if so has anyone found this tape.

Mp is fine for fae but you can also take polyfil sheets and  iron them into compact filter disks which you can cut to any shape.

Search for iron polyfil on shroomery if you're unsure.

I wouldn't worry about contamination when in the fruiting chamber. By that stage, myc is almost invulnerable. I've got cakes that contaminated after two months of handling, dunking, misting etc, all in a dirty environment, with dog hair everywhere, and I was just washing my hands beforehand. I do get adequate FAE with lid closed though, don't know if that matters. Clean spawn=M60A1. And no, do not point out that there are better tanks out there, I was trained on those, and had four of them, I just love them. Love doesn't need an explanation 😁

Sounds good, thanks. Also I’ve been doing more research and some people said they were using trans pore tape, I guess it’s allows a little more airflow than micro pore. I will have 20 something tubs soon so I’m going to test out one with micro pore, one with ironed poly fill, and one with trans pore, I’ll post my results so we can give answers to all the other people wondering what the best filter is once and for all.

For ease you should consider no tape easy dial monotubs.
