Hey Yanti, welcome to the Shroomery. I get what you’re saying. If you’re not spiritual than I can see your thinking on it.

Call me a wet blanket if you must, but for me psilocybin is just a very effective medicine, nothing more, nothing less. It is sacred to me, even though I am a true atheist (not an agnostic, I am philosophicaly against the belief of god), because it helped me so much. I just can't understand how most of you can consume shrooms recreationally. I mean, I had exceptional experiences under the influence, very scary moments too, but I can't imagine dosing without feeling the need, just to get high. That's just me though, and I do deal with some serious mental health issues. Maybe people with such issues can't find enjoyment in psychedelics? I don't know, but I I know that when depression hits the highest, I am generally waiting for 3-4 weeks, and if the symptoms do not subside, I just dose up.

Howdy
Mushrooms gave me the breakthrough and ego death. I got the cosmic joke. My first little awakening. A mystical experience. Very strange. My life changed. Mushrooms turned me from atheist to a spiritual person. I am guessing god is consciousness or the monad or dao or Brahma. God might not be a being or entity but just a creative force. I now see god realization and solipsism as likely. There is no free will and there is no self. All is illusion. So enjoy and have fun.
But maybe it is a glitch in my brain or a self delusion I manufactured to evade existential nihilism. Could be Renee Descartes’ demon.

I have had extremely profound and undeniable spiritual experiences with mushrooms.

You are way more experienced than me, so let me ask you. While I too, had extremely profound experiences with shrooms, and am leading a different path right now because of them,is it normal not to feel "enjoyment" in the normal sense when dosing? I mean, there are definitely parts of the trip that are enjoyable, but before dosing, I feel like taking a very bad tasting medicine, kids hate it, but it is good for them, something like that I guess. I don't know how to better explain it mate. Suffice to say, when I feel the need to dose, I generally dose after a couple of weeks, trying to build up the courage to face my demons. At least that is what I think that is happening. Sorry for not being able to be more specific, but I just don't trust my grasp on reality anymore.

The range of effect can extend from ecstatic to absolutely hellish for me. Dismantling can be rough. Some trips for me involve a lot of nervousness, vomiting and physical distress, seizures, deep therapy, usually followed by a deep meditative conversation with spiritual beings in a telepathic realm where my soul or being melds with theirs and we have a continuous form of love and understanding which we generate. I am shown things and expected to provide my insight and observations almost like reporting to a team about work done in the field. Each time is different though. All are worthwhile experiences and all of them combined have given me a holistic view of my life and why I am here and the intertwining of spirituality that flows through all of it. I can see the spirit in all things. To me it is undeniable. I understand that not everybody has these experiences.
You are right for being cautious. Your instincts are a good thing.
It is up to the experiencer what "enjoyment" they get. Most of my enjoyment of the experience comes from the understanding and personal betterment that I gain. there are peaks of momentary enjoyment as well during the experiences although I don't feel like those experiences are separate in any way. It's all my same story.
I can see what people call God in all things. Sometimes I refer to it as God if I am addressing it directly. It communicates with me in a constant way as well as makes up the material of existence. It has taken a lot of practice to listen and to decipher and identify the pseudo edges.
I don't know if this helps or not. I understand the difficulties and the depths.
It's more like training than recreation. Training can be recreation especially when progress in ability is achieved.

You've helped way more than I expected. I have exactly the same type of trips. I don't believe in God, or any higher power, and as contradictory as it may seem, I totally understand what you mean by spirituality, as I feel it too, I just don't ascribe a metaphysical meaning to it. What I've found helpful is meditation during the come up, and total surrender to the effects, good or bad. I've found that meditation somehow amplifies the effects, not sure why. Thank you for your answer Nich, and thank you all for being here without criticising. It means a lot to me.
edit. My next trip, will be the first one without being under the influence of THC. I stopped vaping weed four days ago, as I am trying to quit anything and everything that is addictive (I have an addictive personality, substance abuse is just a small part of it). I truly believe that it will be a "cleaner" trip.

Intent matters a lot. If you look for God, you will find God. It might be a little different than your preconceived notion.
That said, many people find something some may call God with psychedelics. The force of the universe, whatever vortex in our minds which has power, call it whatever. Psychedelics can make many more spiritual.
Or, you can have a great time using them recreationaly if that is your intent.
Maybe you got lost getting to whatever your real intent was. Or maybe you just shouldn't do psychedelics due to how you are wired. It's not a tendency toward mental illness, although that is possible. I think sometimes that people who just have different brain chemistry might have different reactions. There's no shame in it.
I've personally always been shaky with large doses of LSD whereas I can have a great time (and, yes, learn a lot) on one hit.
